Kevin Steele can not coach defense. Thier isn't a point to be missed. Steele was 1-31 in 4 seasons as head coach of Baylor in the BIG12. He gave up 70 points in the Orange Bowl.It has absolutely nothing to do with players. The guy has a history of being terrible.
That's why they're not the only ones at fault. Although I'd factually disagree that their losing faith in the gameplan is the greatest cause of their lack of effort.
thats my belief of watching years of football. It seems teams half ass it when they check out mentally. i saw that early on today, we had a little fire coming out the 2h then it was more of the same. they dont believe in what theyre doing. their effort and play reflect it. and neither does anyone else for that matter.
I guess I'm just of a different opinion. I agree whole-heartedly with your assessment of why players half-ass it, but I place equal or more blame on the players. If you've checked out mentally, that's mostly on you, in my opinion. Sure, the coaches should be lighting fires left and right, but you can only lead a horse to water.
My point is our defense has been struggling all year. Our offense was doing great early with a soft schedule and our offense has been terrible as of late. Behind in Bama game for most part. Behind in the Arky game. Behind in this game. Coming from behind isn't our game which is why i'm so hard on the defense. Thats why our offense has looked bad because we are a I-Form team not a run and gun team. I agree with the players half ass playing tonight. Look like they have checked out this year.
At this level motivation and preparedness so not be and option , it is like taking a test . And so they failed their test !!!
