Well that should erase any doubts about LSU being a basketball destination. It'll take time to change that. But Digger Dale sure was able to change it...and I am impressed with Johnny Jones' efforts so far. It just takes a couple of recruits to change that. It also takes an over achieving team to get the coach noticed. More true LSU fans in the seats couldn't hurt either. Now's the time for students who really love LSU to wake up and support the team like real fans instead of waiting for wins before shamelessly jumping on the band wagon. Are game boys, twitter and facebook really such a distraction that it keeps students away? I'm beginning to think so. My brother-in-law manages the Tulane bookstore, and he couldn't believe how the students were walking around like zombies because they didn't have the internet after Isaac hit. There were fistfights in the student union because that was the only building with air conditioning and generated electricity. It was the only place where students could charge up their laptops and smart phones. Maybe LSU needs to figure out a novel way of incorporating social media into the game experience. Maybe there can be a cyber panty raid they can promote as a hook up gimmick. I'd like to see a wii like telescope that you can point to a pretty girl and send her an anonymous request or something. Maybe you can sign up to be on the jumbotron to have secret admirers text you. something....anything !!
Maybe LSU should take a lesson from the hornets pre game party outside the arena. Concerts and beer...inflatable trampolines where everyone could go see the golden girls bounce up and down on !!! !! anything !! Any expense that LSU incurs will pay dividends in increased interest, attendance and ultimately recruiting. Dollar beer and free hot dogs. Fireworks ANYTHING !!!!!
LSU needs to promote attendance at the basketball games if they ever want to turn the program around. Maybe this is where they could recruit Dale Brown to come out of retirement and organize these activities.
Deng Deng! Do we have a winner? (That's bad, I know): http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2012/09/lsu_hoops_lands_juco_recruit_d.html#incart_river_default Anyone know anything about this guy?
The last Australian hoops guy we had was Eddie Palubinskas...he was a great addition back then. Pure shooter, dependable ball handler. This Deng Deng guy grew 3 inches so far this year. He's 6'8" and counting. He's going to be part of the 2013 year class.
http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=7....z?s=75&p=9&c=2&cid=1105361&nid=5731680&fhn=1 Could be a sleeper! What i've read so far has him listed between 6'5-6'6 and grew 3 inches last year. So he could be a tall SF or a versatile PF...Glad to have him, still waiting on one or both of the big boys (Martin of Mickey) but this could be a nice piece to fill out the class.
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruitingon-the-trail/post/_/id/2407/lsu-lands-juco-forward-deng "He's a 6-8 small forward who has the ability to have mismatches and play big close to the basket," Champagne said. "He's not a thick body type, but he's constantly working. He has a cut upper body, but a slender lower body, so he's not what I would call a power forward."
Two commits in 1 day...Jon Odoh will be a tiger in 2013....Still waiting on some high profile guys but with 5 spots up for grabs next year I like both of the pickups http://rivals.yahoo.com/lsu/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2013
