Just watched Coleman and Pelle's videos:

    Holy crap!!!

Coleman is built like Turner, but is far more explosive and has better form on his jumpshot too. G/F type player. The addition of Coleman would allow Turner to play the 2 and add more height to the lineup.

Pelle is super athletic too. Most of his highlights are dunks and didn't look great in a ball handling drill. He looks like a PF.

I would be very happy if we added these two to our signing class. Throw in Hammink and we could be damn good next year!!!

Looking at boxscores on the John Curtis Riverside game yesterday - Gathers had a fair game - 18 points on 8 of 25 shots, 14 rebounds 1 of 6 foul shots & fouled out. Morgan had only 6 points & 0 for 4 on three pointers. nothing to get excited about for sure.

Gathers, Morgan, or both? And your basing this off of one box score? Morgan scored 50 last time he played Riverside and Gathers may not be all-world, but he's strong and athletic and could contribute the same way Storm does.

Yeah I think morgan was mostly in foul trouble, just a bad game for him, I am still very excited about him though.

Could Shavon Coleman play the SG position, or is he an SF? If he could play the Shooting Gaurd position that way it could free up Stringer to move back to PG. Backing up Hickey.

Looking at his HS highlights I would say he's a SF with a little range... but I don't think there is any video of him since he's been in college and the article suggest he has improved all across the board... either way I'd love for him to be a Tiger!

I would say, given his film that I've seen, and what I've read, I think the current thinking is more that Shavon could play SF, which would allow Turner to play his more natural SG position, leaving then Stringer to also be more of a combo PG-SG. I say this because although Shavon is also 6'6", he's got a little wider frame and appears to slash more to the basket. Whereas Turner is more of a traditional pick and pop, outside jump shooter.

That said, I think that Coleman's spent a good amount of time in JC taking his game outside more. He's taking more threes and learning to play more on the perimeter. If you look at his JC stats, he shoots a better 2FG% than Turner (which means he's taking more of them, and taking the ball to the basket), and he's shooting a reasonably good 3FG% (38%), but shoots a lower clip from the FT line. He's also a better rebounder, and likely defender, than Turner. But, he also turns the ball over more. So, that adds up to the fact that likely Coleman fits at more of a true 3, where he can drive to the basket, hit the glass, but play a bigger 3 on the other team.

I love the quotes about his defense too, in the article. I think that's one area where I believe LSU can really take a big step next year--perimeter play and decision making. Perimeter defense against an otherwise SG-SF versatile heavy SEC, is one area where I think LSU struggled with consistent results. Turner at times seemed inconsistent on d--especially keeping 3s in front of him and keeping them off the glass, since he naturally wants to shoot and score. Coleman seems to be more committed to that, and hence, would fit into Trent's style pretty well. If you move Ralston back to 2, he can use his size to help defend smaller guards, as opposed to often times putting him on an island to guard pretty tough SEC SFs.

I like the idea of both Coleman and Hammink for different reasons--and oddly I predict they both could become versatile wings in the SEC. Coleman is a guy who is physically mature, and can help right away. The other thing it does frankly, is give Jalen Courtney more opportunities to play at 3-4 in a "small" line up. Courtney sort of at times got relegated to an occasional spot of 3 shooter at 3, given Storm and Malcolm on the team--but at 6'8" and close to 230, I'd try him more as a skilled 4 on the floor, like Warren played. He really needs to be helping with rebounding and hitting the glass, while more occasionally popping out to hit a 17 footer.

Hammink is also 6'5-6'6" but he's also a G-F, having played some at all of the positions, 1-4, on the court because he's in Europe. More recently he seems to have shifted from guard more to swing forward. His outside shot isn't as good as you might expect as a high-major guard right now, but he has a sneaky way of getting to the basket and is a nice passer. At 6'5" and around 190, he's also already pretty solid. Given Geert's genes, I also wouldn't be surprised if he grew another inch or two. So, down the road, with a Malik Morgan at 2, we actually might see Hammink down the road as potentially a 2-3, but one that could benefit from not having to step in right away, so he can get adjusted to the speed of the SEC. That speed in the SEC can be tough to handle at first, but it would ultimately do Hammink wonders as he thinks about getting to the NBA down the road.

Thank's a lot for the last two post, it cleared up things a lot. Even if we got an 6'-'6" SF/SG. I would still start Stringer and Hickey, then sit Stringer for a while and bring him back in when Hickey get's his rest.

If we get Coleman, I don't see any possibility of Stringer starting
