Quietly, I think that LSU has been continuing to evaluate its needs for signing a big man in the spring to fill out it's 2010 class. Eric Buckner (Juco 6'9" 205) out of Florida still has his offer, but it appears also that LSU has given an offer to a fast rising prospect out of Maryland, Moses Abraham. Moses is a 6'9" 235 center/forward kid who just came to the states from Africa. An impressive physical specimen, who has quickly racked up offers from the likes of Georgetown, Maryland, VCU and LSU. Don't know how seriously he's taking us, but ESPN lists LSU, Maryland and VCU as schools he's considering. Trent needs to get some serious depth down low and I like the sound of a bigger kid down low that Trent can develop in his system for a longer period of time. :thumb:

Country Day was in Morgan City Friday night. I was very impressed with Derenbacher. He was by several inches the tallest man on the floor, but his game is on the perimeter and that's where he was despite his size advantage. He has a sweet jump shot, and range a couple of feet outside the arc. He runs well and can shoot off the dribble or the catch.

I saw Derenbecker play a couple of day's ago and I share your thoughts on him. The only thing I might add is he is listed at
6'7 but that might be a little off.

Derenbecker is shorter or taller than he is listed?? Next year can't come fast enough for me. This current basketball team is probably the worst at LSU in the last ten years. Where's the Beef?? We Despertely need some beef down next to the basket. I think Coach Johnson vastly underestimated this team. Harris & Green have both not done well & Dodson is having a terrible year shooting the ball. Even with four recruits & a transfer coming in next year we still are going to be short around the basket. I know both Harris & Green are over 6'10 but its hard to tell that on the court in terms of rebounding & defense.

I think he may be more like 6'5 but it's just a guess I could certainly be wrong but he looks to be a pure shotter.

I would'nt give up on Green and Harris as both these guys sat out last year and maybe it's just going to take some time before they come around.

Hope your right about Green & Harris, watched them last night against Florida & they did show some signs of improvement. Mmmm, wanted to say more but hard to do without being critical so I'm not saying more... They did play hard against Florida.. :geaux:

Just let Trent get his guys in the program and we will be fine...next years recruiting class is a solid class that will lay the foundation but I am more excited about Malcolm White..he and Storm will be tought to handle down low.

Glad to hear Derenbecker is having a good year. Turner's team is now 19-2 and he is having a very good senior year. He has improved greatly even since wstching him last year. Although this years LSU team is lacking in talent they still play hard every night. I expect them to be greatly improved next year and should have a shot at making the tournament if things fall into place just right. The year after that though is when you can really expect to see a competitive team even on the national level. The brighter days are ahead and Coach Johnson will build a program that is one of the best in the SEC and top 15 team year in and year out I believe, it's just going to take a few years to get there because of the mess he inherited. Support through this year while they take their lumps will only help.

I look for Derenbecker to possibly play shooting guard when he arrives. He is in the 6'5 range and can flat out shoot it I guess the only issue would be is he quick enough to defend some of the smaller guards?
