HOLD THE PHONE, folks. Perhaps the Class of 2010 is not entirely wrapped up in a certain PG out of MS and a SG out of AL.

This just in from the Mobile Boost event, as a hoops writer has interviewed some of the top unsigned 2010 prospects. Apparently PG sensation Phil Pressey has NOT eliminated LSU, and has the Tigers in his new top 5 (UCLA, Baylor, Mizzou, 'Zona and LSU). Also 6'7" SF Roscoe Smith from VA who has casually mentioned LSU during the past few years of recruitment, also still mentions LSU (although as far as we know, he doesn't have an offer).

ZAGSBLOG Boost Mobile Profiles: Leslie, Selby, Smith & Pressey

As far as the Texas connection goes, a little mentioned name on this board also happens to be Cameron Clark, a 6-6/7" ish SF out of Texas who plays with Pressey on their Texas AAU team. Cameron now sports a LSU offer according to Rivals (as does 6'4" 4 star shooting guard Trey Zeigler out of MI).

Could there be an interesting scenario of landing a PG of very high mention (Stringer or Pressey), moving Matt D to shooting guard and bringing another top recruit in as SF? Wow. :D

Geaux Trent! Keep them all coming to Tigertown. I'm all for it-- whoever wakes up and realizes what a hoops powerhouse LSU is becoming, should visit and commit. LSU!:LSU231::bball::LSU231::bball:

An update on Turner for you guys. He now has an offer from Notre Dame and they are all over him from what the word is. He is supposed to take an official visit there now. Looks like it will come down to LSU, Butler, and Notre Dame as of right now. Also, to give you some insight on why he didn't get much publicity during AAU ball was because his AAU coach is an idiot and did everything he could not to help him. It sounded like the coach had a personal agenda to help a few certain kids try to get scholarships and tried to leave a few of them out to dry. Apparently though Turner had a really good couple of camps at the Paul Pierce camp and Lebron James camp followed by a really good showing at the AAU nationals. People that were there said he shot the lights out of it and was getting to the rim any time he wanted to. A Notre Dame coach was watching every game and so was CTJ, along with several other schools that might try to make a late push. I will also say it again, he is alot more athletic than people think, especially the guys at rivals, who in my opinion have only been listening to what his AAU coach tells them. I find it comical that he was a finalist for the 18U USA Team, which means he is thought of by people who actually know what they are talking about to be a top 30 player in the nation, but rivals doesn't even have him listed on their top 150 now. You tell me who is the idiot. The college coaches at those camps who nominated him for the national team or the guys at some of these recruiting services.

Technically speaking, Rivals has RT at #144. ESPN has him as a top100 and a 95 grade. To be fair to Ralston, I have been saying that I haven't really seen the kid play, and the highlights out there don't do him justice. I saw some stuff on him around the LeBron camp and the national team, and he's been oddly "under the radar".

I guess the thing that sort of concerns me is while RT has clearly said he's high on LSU, he's scheduled no visit or backed it up ... yet. Stringer at least has an official scheduled. Now Ralston's going to visit Notre Dame when they recently got a commitment from another 6'6" wing with a good shot? Butler is now in the mix too? So, it's hard to tell where he or Trent stands. Ralston is entertaining new offers and if he's drifting away from LSU, I think Trent is smart to explore other alternatives as well.

    More on Pressey...

Phil Pressey Interview - Rivals.com Video

In a recent interview by HoopTV in addition to mentioning LSU in his top list, he says that the key driver in his decision will be the playing time, coach/system (for his playing style) and school environment. Will likely take his visit in September/October and make his decision in the late fall. He seems to be a little bit behind Stringer in terms of timing... but this one could get interesting.

I guess the more interesting question for the board is who would you rather have Stringer or Pressey?

In the landscape for recruit Andre Stringer, we look forward to an official visit that is fast approaching (first home game vs. Vandy in a couple of weekends). But, we find that Alabama, reportedly LSU's primary competition for the 5'9" 170 scoring PG, is focusing it's attention on another fast rising PG--Trevor Releford who oddly at also 5'9-10", 170ish climbed to right under Stringer on Rivals 150 list at 94. Releford says though that Alabama is his leader (for being on him from the beginning) and will visit 'Bama 9/17.

This has to help LSU with it's chances with Stringer, or perhaps is indicative of either where coaches or players are spending their time and setting priorities. LSU has been on Stringer from the beginning, and that has to mean something to the MS PG. What's interesting is that clearly the trend has been to go to the smaller, quicker PGs who can break down a defense and lead the break. Perhaps the success of Ty Lawson continues this trend? Clearly Trent notices this--but now most of the SEC is getting into the act.

When you look at the bevy of sub 6' PGs that have gotten a lot of pub, you've got Phil Pressey and Andre Stringer (who are both interested in LSU), in addition to Releford, Joe Jackson (Tennessee and Memphis are favorites) and Dundrecous Nelson (Ole Miss commit). Interestingly, many of them will end up in the SEC playing against each other. I like where LSU sits. Pressey is arguably the quickest, most athletic, "pass first" guy. Stringer is the best shooter. Trent, close the deal!

I'm starting to get excited that we really are going to close with Stringer and Turner. If we do that, the future of this program looks mighty fine! :geaux:

Dandy Don reports today that for the first home game next Saturday (vs. Vandy), there will be at least two basketball prospects there for visits that weekend. We know one is Stringer... care to guess the other? ...

    Good ole' DD... :hihi:

Here's an interesting instate sleeper. Jarvis Ray - Yahoo! Sports
Jarvis Ray, a 6'6" PG of OP Walker, claims to have an LSU offer. He could be a nice backup plan if Stringer and Pressey decide not to go to LSU.
