generally, the better skilled, less athletic players that can compete with the more athletic players will be Jrs and Srs. CTJ will probably be able to hide one of them. so if ctj is gonna go after this type of kid, dont expect much contribution from them for a couple years. just sayin.

An interesting case in point here is Eddie Ludwig. He will be an interesting kid to watch within LSU/SEC because he represents the first of these Trent signees who may not have been prototypical "SEC" type players. Will he see the court sooner or later? Will he be able to contribute, as Gumbo says, before he's a Junior? I think he will. Partly b/c he's joining a relatively thin team, but also b/c a fundamentally sound, skilled player is always going to have some value on the court, b/c he can do the things that don't show up in the stats. Block out, set a pick, make the right pass, not make stupid plays, draw fouls.

Let's also remember that Ludwig went head to head against a more decorated 6'9" "prototypical" big man in Kourtney Roberson (TA&M signee) and generally ate his lunch in big playoff games. So, hustle and smarts can show up on the court sooner that you say.

As an aside, saw that Ludwig and Dotson are now listed on the LSU rosters on the website, and they list Ludwig now at 6'9", 205. Has the kid grown/worked out, or is that extremely generous?

there will be exceptions to a general rule. at 6'9" playing 3, he can afford to be less athletic.

the most likely problems will be on D. hard to D players with more quickness and/or strength/ athleticism. i think we'll see much less M2M from now on.

Trent and co. are after Canadian JUCO SG/SF Marvell Waithe. He seems to be very close to committing to Pitt, but man did this guy put up some nasty numbers or what?

35 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks a game his SR. year in high school. Next year, he put up 25 points and 10 rebounds a game for his prep team. In JUCO, his numbers dipped to 19 and 9 a game, but JUCO is cesspool for ballhoggery because everyone is trying to get a D-1 scholly.

So, can anyone deny or confirm that this visit occurred?

It appears anyway that it didn't, but according to some of Ddon's recent reports, Trent is not resting on his laurels and is still talking to various recruits--including kids beyond Stringer and Turner.

In any case, Stringer continues to get nice pub at his summer tourneys. I think this one is his last of the summer...

Right now, at least, it also appears that all of the news about Tennessee zeroing in on Stringer may have been misplaced. His top 5 continues to be LSU, Alabama, Marquette, Miami and Miss St. Also, Tennessee seems to be focusing on other PG candidates

At least folks around town are giving hoops some airtime. The advocate ran an article about Tasmin going into his last year. Also, Dotson and Ludwig had a nice little piece today on them in the Advocate...

Nice quotes about the new "kids" from Tas...

Alabama just got a commitment from a shooting guard and there is another that they seem to have on their board higher than Turner.

So I look for LSU to land Ralston Turner. :geaux:

Good post Colts....I saw this on a bottom line on Cbs college sports where they landed a guard and I automatically thought this helps us with Turner.

Yes, when you look at where Alabama's list, they actually have a good number of targets, they have on their board too, but both Turner and Stringer hang in the balance between 'Bama and LSU...

Alabama Basketball Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

Some time ago, it was "rumored" that Alabama had moved away from Ralston, and they actually liked K.T. Harrell (SG) and Trevor Releford (PG) more than Turner and Stringer. Just remains to be seen how much Stringer and Turner appreciate Trent's continuing, consistent interest in those guys... :thumb:

Well, we may have spoken a little too soon bc K.T. Harrell committed to Virginia today. Apparently when that shooting guard committed to Bama yesterday, Harrell elimiated them and committed elsewhere.

I have no idea what this means for Turner, but just thought it was worth noting.

I don't see why we should write off Bama as competition for Turner just yet. Keep in mind that we just picked up Derenbrecker, so why should the fact that they picked up a wing, too, give us an edge?
