    forgot about white, doh.

with him and warren and courtney lsu will be fine down low for 10-11. they could be exploited by a few teams, but not enough to dictate the season.

and, maybe green or harris can be counted on down low. looks like green is more likely to become a legit 4/5 post defender with the height and bulk and green may only ever be good in the post as a off ball defender (great value there though, too.)

big men are overrated in college though. thats not as big a concern as having a solid PG and two dependable shooters. and this lsu team has none of this for the next two seasons. with bo moving to 2, every position but tas is a ?. warren is probably the next best known commodity.

What are LSU's needs in 2010? I see on Scout that LSU has Courtney listed as a PF & is recruiting Oyedeji of Houston who has Low interest. no one else listed at that position. Small Forward - Derndecker & Kendricks have offers, no one else with offers.. SG - Williams, Galloway & Turner (Muscle Shoals Al.) No one else with offers. PG - Pressey & Stringer with offers... No Centers with offers. Thats only 9 players out there (including Courtney) with offers according to Scout. Thats gotta be wrong?? Scout is nowhere near as up to date as you guys are... Rivals lists some different players but they don't show offers like Scout does..

I think you'll find that more or less, these are the names that are popping up. If you go off of what Scout and Rivals say, you could throw MI SG Trey Zeigler into the mix as having an offer. Also, at one point in time Trent had talked to and made an offer to Harrison Barnes, 5* SF that everyone is after. As a general matter, I find that Trent does give a fair number of offers out, and he's not afraid to give them to out of staters who show some interest in LSU, but he is judicious with the offers in state (for example, LSU is probably watching, but haven't offered Markel Brown, Ron McGee, Cedric Jenkins, among others).

As to your question as to need though, again, I think you'll find some debate there as to what is best for this team. Clearly, LSU needs depth in the wing and perimeter, b/c if you look at what's graduating or leaving soon, you've got Bo as your only proven guard, and if Tas' is not there, you've got very few high impact wings (that are proven, anyway--no telling how Dotson and Ludwig will develop). So, Trent would probably like to sign one PG, one or two SGs, one or two SFs, and an inside player. That's assuming, of course, that you believe that a rotation of Green (3 more years), Harris (4 more years), White (2 more years starting in 2010), and Courtney (assuming he signs, 4 more years starting 2010) is a good one on the inside, then you really don't need more inside players. Hence, I think Trent is focusing on beefing up the perimeter with scorers, and will focus on bigs for 2011.

Right now, it appears that depending on what happens with Tas and Noel Johnson, LSU may have up to 5 offers to give next year, and one is already taken by Courtney. I think that those players most serious about LSU and vice versa are probably, Stringer, Galloway/Derenbrecker, Turner, and Williams, roughly perhaps in that order. It's hard to say how interested Kendrick is in us, and I think that Zeigler, Pressey and Odeyeji are low interest/long shots at this point.

As we know though, things can change quickly, and often times, one domino to fall starts others falling in different directions. We know that at least Stringer and Turner would like to decide something by Fall. The LA kids are a little bit more laid back and not in a hurry to make a decision, which makes it tough for Trent to recruit LA. It'll be somewhat ironic that Trent is trying desparately to recruit LA, and it may be two Mississippi kids and a Alabama kid to want to come to LSU before some of these LA kids... :nope:

That's extremely disappointing to me. There goes the best scorer in the state. Seriously, I have no clue what Trent is doing right now.

Even worse, we lose Markel to Butch Pierre, who, I have a feeling, will raid LA consistently.

Ummm... I think we know what Trent is doing right now... He has offers out to Galloway, Derenbrecker and B. Williams who are all able to play SG and are higher rated. Is he supposed to offer Markel Brown too and have 4 offers outstanding to LA guards?

I mean perhaps you have some super high opinion of Markel, but as far as I can tell, Ok. St. perhaps made a reach here. Let's also note that of course Butch Pierre is trying to maintain an in roads into LA... he's also offered B. Williams and Matt Derenbrecker as well. Those guys are certainly favoring LSU over Ok St., so Butch gambles on Brown and hits.

The thing that I do regret is that this year happens to be a year where LA is very deep on perimeter players. But, you can't possibly offer everyone in the state, can you? I think that Trent has to prioritize his recruits and he knows he's got to stay focused on the trio of kids he did give offers to. I just think that kids like Markel, Cedric Jenkins, McGee, they're not necessarily going to wait on LSU and to some extent, I'd like for them to, but you know they all won't.
