I think this is a little bit of a bad luck for Tas' honestly. Brady went out recruiting a bunch of big men this year and the frontline's going to be stacked. Tas' and Q' Thornton being hurt is not Brady's fault as much as anyone would like to point the finger, but it's certainly not good luck for him or his team. We know that Dennis Harris was prepared to redshirt, but Bobo Morgan will play. You've got a frontline of Chris Johnson, Anthony Randolph, Bobo Morgan, Tas', Q' Thornton and Garrett Green, all who should see minutes. Plus, Delwan Graham, who may want to see some PT on the wing, as an "understudy" to Tas'. Personally, I'd worry that you see either Q'Thornton or Garrett Green upset in some way, and do you see Graham and Warren willing to redshirt--are they patient enough? Garrett thought he was going to be redshirted this year, but instead is playing 10-15 minutes a game. Is he going to be utilized enough next year and does he now perhaps transfer back to a school on the west coast where he's from? I hope not, but just a game of numbers. The good news is that Tas' and Graham may be able to roam the perimeter more to get on the floor, and Tas' has shown an ability to play inside and out. As of right now, on paper, depth is not the issue on the frontline and assuming folks stay, there is going to be a full squad.
Thanks for the info. If the incoming players are as good as advertised then I can suffer thru a second subpar year as long as I can see the sunshine behind the clouds. Brady has everyone questioning his coaching ability with the lack of success the last two years. My feeling is that Brady is not bad, not great for sure & has no sparkle or charizma. I think he has very good assistants who are good recruiters & we are stuck with him for a few more years & he will do just enough to keep hanging around..
We know that Dennis Harris was prepared to redshirt>>> PLACE THIS IN YOUR SALAD The way! Harris is playing and picking up! some wt: AVG:24 PTS 14 REBS per game: and play's in (5 AAAAA) in GA is NOT EASY!! (A VERY HARD CLASS IN GA.) Will he R/S ??? Not sure???? from what Iv'e been told-Graham and Harris are working out together on weekends GET READY FOR THE 2ND HALF OF THE SCHOOL SEASON GUYS THAT'S WHAT'S YOU ARE GETING Some young men that understand hard work! outside of there school workout's is what it take's to get to the next level! If Brady is release from LSU!! before June of 2008 THAT'S NOT GOOD FOR THE INCOMING CLASS NOT HERE IN GA.... IT WILL HAVE A IMPACT ON 2008/09 TRUST ME!!!:rolleye33: :rolleye33: :rolleye33: GUYS GET IT TOGETHER ASAP!!
What if Coach Dollar stays? I think the rules are if a head coach is fired, then the next coach can choose whether or not to keep the assistant coaches.
cmon TGer, dont fall into the trap of high expectations for this team. with absolutely no experience and no bulk down low this team has little shot of beating decent teams. the team will score but its too streaky because of no post play. thornton's driving ability is the best bet, but one decent guy wont win any games. maybe the team will get better at defensive rebounding as johnson and randolph learn when not to go for blocks, but shotblockers are usually handicapped at that end. it would be better to pair a shotblocker with a stout rebounder (ala thomas/davis, stro/smith). perhaps the team will fair better against guard-laden teams, but i just dont see how LSU's D can stop the typically rugged and savvy post players in the SEC. never thought i'd be longing for even a lazare-type, but that's what losing qthornton and tmitchell will do. ====================== with dollar evidently being a good recruiter, i'd think there's a good chance that a cjb replacement would try to keep him.
Gumbo, I know you're a die hard LSU hoops fan too, but right now, I can't tell if you're serious or sarcastic. This is coming, of course, after another loss. This time to a LA school for the first time in a LONG time. Let's be fair Tulane is actually not Tulane of old, and had beat some decent schools earlier in the season. BUT, I guess that's the point, this is a significant loss in the sense that spiritually, LSU is not supposed to lose to Tulane in hoops. I hear you about the injuries. I can't blame Brady for it. With Tas' and Q Thornton, I'm inclined to say we're maybe 9-4 maybe even 10-3, instead of 7-6 right now. But, at some point, you have to own up to your losses. You have to try different things, show an ability to adapt, be creative. I'm less concerned with the record right now, as I am with the inability to actually coach on the fly, teach new things, and teach and motivate young players to play their asses off. While I don't think Brady is a bad coach, he hasn't shown these last two seasons the ability to really adapt. He is sort of a "foundational" coach, in that he relies on defense, rebounding, and offensive efficiency to get things done. Those things got us back to respectability. But, when those things are not there, can he show the ability to change the game? I agree with you the lack of personnel is not helping. It's a fluke that the best player on the team gets hurt and a key reserve gets hurt. But, does that save Brady if he can't produce? :dis: More on my thoughts if Brady should go or stay... another day. Ole Miss is leading the SEC West undefeated, with a pretty new squad. Lots to look forward in the SEC West this year, eh?
There is no justifiable reason that we should be in this shape. It's just poor talent evaluation. I'll bet there were at least a dozen players in the last three years within fifty miles of Baton Rouge that could have earned a spot on this team that were never looked at or offered. Voogd, Farrer, and Green are three that should never have been recruited. Green may one day be worth his scholarship but I'm confident there have been better closer to LSU that would be doing more. Surely there has been a player 6'7" or taller in the area that could rebound and play defense.
JUST GOT THE WORD C. JOHNSON HAND IS BROKE AND DONE FOR THE SEASON!!! BAD NEWS FOR THE LSU MENS TEAM THREE MAJOR PLAYERS GONE FOR THE YEAR!!!! THEY SAID (MAYBE FOUR WEEKS)THEN REHAB- NOT GOOD GUYS!! THIS IS THE INSIDE SCOOP!! HAS NOT HIT THE PAPER'S YET......... They are Not very Happy! Right Now! Just got of the phone with my contact ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!!
Well crapola...it may sound silly but having Magnum Rolle still here right about now wouldn't be all that bad. Chris Johnson was one of our best shooters. Does he get to medical redshirt or is it too late?
Wow, that's tough - I feel bad for the team and the guys who've been hurt. For whatever reason, Brady just seems like one of those guys who except for 1 or 2 years, has bad karma. He's not a great coach, he's not the worst coach in the world either... but LSU can definitely do better. There's a golden opportunity here with no dominant programs in the SEC-W. LSU needs a fresh start. If we take a hit on the nice recruiting class for next year, so be it - basketball is far different from football in that you can much more quickly recover with a couple of strong classes and players.
