He cut us a while back.

By the way, great news from Delwan Graham:

Sounds like LSU really made up a lot of room with him.

If we got Bobo Morgan, Greg Monroe, and Delwan Graham, that would be insanely awesome. LSU!

Well, the LSU staff has made up a lot of ground in a few weeks. And, as we're talking, fall on-campus visit schedules for hoops are booking up. It seems as though the Brady bunch have made up serious ground with J'Mison Morgan, Chris Singleton, and Delwan Graham (more so with Morgan and Graham). We seem to be in all of these kids' top 5. No visits scheduled yet, however.

On the other hand, according to Scout, we DO have a scheduled visit from Storm Warren scheduled for the week of September 22nd. He also claims offers from Baylor, Florida and LSU, amongst a few others. Perhaps he's the LA recruit that the staff covets most, and vice versa. From what I read, he's a hard working kid who doesn't mind doing the dirty work down low--and we need that. My question for folks though, is he really more 6'8" or 6'7"? And has anyone seen this kid play?

I agree. I just don't know what to think about him. At first, I thought that he might have a lot of mass to make up for lack of height. But apparently he's a skinny 215 pounder. And all Rivals ever says about him is that he "hustles and collects garbage buckets to compliment Greg Monroe." He's a bit of a mystery man at this point.

    Also, this is pretty insane:

Damn. He hasn't decided between going to college in 08 or 09, but this guy is the next Dikembe Mutombo. I don't know if we actually have a legit shot, but geeze, the attention's nice.

This year is the year we find out what Pierre and Brady can really do. They have alot of instate talent to work with but they need to sign a great player out of state I think. Looking over the last couple of years it seems he targets players but has to scramble for others at the end because they commit elsewere. I'll wait and see what happens this next year, good luck coaches.

    Question

Can i expect much from LSU this season? I mean, I'm watching either way. J/w since I don't know much about our recruits.

Well, I have a little bit of hopeful optimism here. First, as I've mentioned, I like the idea of LSU solidifying itself as the premier destination for LA players wanting to stay in the state, and Storm is the kind of north LA recruit that is not necessarily a potential NBA lottery pick, BUT, he's the type of kid that will represent LSU well, play hard, and fit into a system. I don't want to say he's the next Darnell Lazare, but you get the point.

As for his playing abilities, he's actually probably a better recruit than Lazare was. Rivals top 130 player. All-State first teamer last year. AND, unbeknownst to me he was one of only 30-32 high school seniors picked to play on the USA Basketball Developmental League. AND, if he really got an offer from Billy D, I'm listening.

    More on the kid....

At Richwood-Monroe, his Jr state line is impressive, although probably indicative of his being the central player on that team...

    25 ppg, 18 rpg, 3.5 apg, 2.2 spg, and 9 bpg.

After playing with the likes of Greg Monroe, and other big names in the developmental league, Storm put up expected numbers for getting less minutes. He's more of a low-post, rebounder and hustler, as he shows up more in the stats a rebounder.

However, I wouldn't underestimate the value of a 6'7"-6'8" athletic guy with a motor. I think of a Carl Landry who was similarly built (215 is actually not that skinny for a kid who's 6'7", and if he gains 10-15 pounds, he can play in the NBA as a SF) but drafted in the early part of the second round this year. If Greg Monroe or Anthony Randolph is drawing all of the attention down low, a guy like Storm can hit the glass, get a lot of low point gimmees, and play helpside d.

    Storm, be a Tiger!
