Big news! We made the top 3 for Dennis Harris. His commitment could completely shake things up. http://lsu.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=45135#ticker I would not mind having him as an SF, and hopefully getting Monroe/Henry and Morgan/Singleton as well.
i still wonder did we even try to recruit terrell pryor i didnt realize he was an 5 star forward also reminds me of how Adrian McPhearson was coming out of high school Mr. Everything in florida basically
Of course John Brady held Tack Minor back. John Brady runs a slow-it-down, throw-it-in-the-post offense that relies on big-time collegiate power forwards starring on the low block. It doesn't have any room for what Tack Minor, or any other talented PG, wants to do on the basketball court. Regardless, Tack Minor deserved to be held back. He's a bad character anyway with the multiple occurrences of cheating and loudmouthing. I say good riddance. I have not seen the clips of TMG's game. If his game relies on driving and dishing and feeding to the big men, along with getting the layups and shooting the occasional 3, he'll be fine. If his game is constantly pushing the ball up and down the floor like Memphis, he won't be happy at LSU.
I'm starting to get so-so feelings about going after MR#1 GM. I know the backlash CJB would get if he did'nt go after the #1 (because he's in our back yard) guy but I have to wonder if GM is scaring recruits away. Most of the guys that have us on their list play the 3 and 4 like GM, and may not want to battle him for playing time. I feel if GM had already commited to lets say Duke at least one of those guys would have commited to us. Of course the big fear is that GM commits to Duke at the last second and all we will have left is a bunch of 2 and 3 star guys and not 4 star guys. Don't get me wrong if GM commited to LSU at the very last it would be worth the wait but I would be just as happy to have Terrance Henry, Chris Singleton and Delwan Graham commit tomorrow. I saw somewhere that Chris Shingleton ran a little point for his aau team. I would be great to have a 3 that could do that every now and then!
I agree, but I just have this strange feeling that if we got Monroe, then J'Mison Morgan would come, too. I believe what Tigernlhornland posted about how the better players follow the best players.
This certainly raises the concerns that I have had and posted earlier, and these are the times that I wouldn't want to be in Brady's and Butch's shoes. Keep in mind that CJB will catch flak almost however it turns out, but how can he NOT pursue Greg Monroe? He's at LSU, the state's flagship school, and what will be exhibit A if he doesn't have a great year next year, "he signed Greg Monroe". Of course, the other side of the coin, is this kid's a beast and is the #1 recruit in the land, why wouldn't you recruit him? Of course, as you've pointed out, you have to pick your battles and your losses. We've got potentially 4 LA top rated kids hanging in the balance, including Terrance Henry, Brandon Moore, and Storm Warren. Not to mention Malcolm White, who was a 4-star forward, who committed early to Ole Miss, along with Brandon Wilson, a 3 star LA guard-SF who also committed to Ole Miss. Clearly, Andy Kennedy went for early signings of the "next level" of LA guys to compete with LSU in the SEC. I guess at the end of the day, MRGreen, you'd argue for signing guys early. Does that mean you recruit other players at the expense of Monroe? And, 'Chokes, would probably say, get the best possible players you can get, wait for Monroe, perhaps hoping to get Morgan and Singleton as a result? It's hard to say, but from what I've seen, I worry most about the timing of Monroe's decision, and the lack of strong signs from Morgan and Singleton. What we have no idea as to, is the relationship and "behind the scene" thoughts from any of these guys. On paper, you can dream about how Singleton, Morgan and Monroe, three Rivals top 40 guys could complement each other on the court. Sure, it'd be nice to have a "fab 3" here, but is that realistic? With three spots to fill, I'd probably try to land one or maybe two guys that really want to be at LSU early. I'd probably feel out Moore and Warren, figure out who fits my program and current team better, who potentially complements GM, and just sign the LA kid that wants to be at LSU badly sooner. There's something about needing LA kids who are legitimate top 100, to have a place at LSU. I think also with a kid like Dennis Henry, the SF from GA, that has LSU in his top 3 (along with UCF and Rice), he's perhaps a kid that the staff is going after stronger given that Singleton might be a dream signing. I'd like to see LSU going into the fall with at least one commitment. We know it may not be Monroe, so you've got to be prepared with Plan B. :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
Speaking of Dennis Harris, another article on his top 3 is out. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=700180 Coach Dollar is really working his Georgia magic. Harris seems like a good complementary player, and it should be noted that he shot a blistering 67% 3pt clip coming off of the bench.
Also, it sounds like we're the outermost school looking in for Singleton's commitment. We're sucking hind tit right now.
 After watching the ATLANTA CELTICS THIS SUMMER! Don't take your eyes Off of Dennis Harris from Jonesboro Ga. 6'10 can play the 1,2,3, or the 4 I UNDERSTAND WHY LSU IS SO HIGH ON HIM.......HE CAN DO IT ALL!! DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF HIM. TIM- NBAONE:tigerhead
