GASP! A 2008 recruit that isn't a forward or center (well, he could probably play SF). This was posted by Bryan Lazare, who works for Tigerbait.com Terrico White is a 6-6 SG. He excels at both catching-and-shooting and creating his shot. Also, he is a thunderous dunker, thanks to his impressive 42 inch vertical leap.
Since the staff is looking to sign 2 forwards this class, I say use the third on a scoring guard like White.
Commitment? Someone on Tigerbait is claiming that Jason Jones, a 2008 SG from Tennessee, is about to commit to LSU. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=62536 Apparently, he is being considered for All-American teams.
Lot's of recruiting stuff going on lately in addition to today's apparently huge commitment. In the following article, a basketball staff member is leaving for Chicago State and will be replaced this week. Also, the bottom of the article is jam-packed with recruiting tid-bits. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/featured/8870467.html?showAll=y&c=y I have to say, I really, really hope that we can land Chris Singleton and am delighted that he unofficially visited this week. He is basically a sure-fire NBA player, barring injury.
This would be good news, but I see nothing official on it. I think the staff is probably trying to secure some help, regardless of the profile, and you can probably sign some versatility this early in the process. A 6'6" athletic wing who can shoot is one piece of the puzzle needed on Brady's teams. Although, I'm a little concerned that this is a kid that in Tennessee wasn't necessarily the highest target of either Tennessee or Vandy. He's rated a 2-3 star, and wouldn't be a super high major recruit. BUT, I think the Tigers need to get someone, and if confirmed, this would be a solid guard to complement hopefully some nice frontcourt signings. Let's wait and see.... As for the other "activity" I think the Advocate article in some ways is just trying to make some news. Soprych leaving is just him moving on to an actual coaching position, and well, we've seen all the other names. No telling how close or hot any of these guys are. I'd love to have 2 big names locked down in the fall this year, but I have sneaking suspicion we might be waiting on pins and needles for a while.
J'Mison Morgan moved up to a 5-star on Rivals. Jaso Washburn moved up to a 4-star, but committed to Utah today, so he's out of the picture. Brandon Moore was demoted to a 3-star.
Also, it's sounding more and more like Terrance Henry will play at Kansas, unfortunately. In a new Rivals article, he says that he is in the process of picking 5 schools to make his next cut, and the only 'for-sure' is Kansas. He also plans to attend their midnight madness.
Well, you can look at this as a plus or minus. It was my understanding that Terrance and Greg Monroe had a little bit of a competitive thing, and wouldn't probably go to the same school. I've also been reading in various places that LSU has made up ground on Greg, and now is in the "thick" of the race, perhaps with Duke. So, does this mean that Terrance thinks LSU is backing off him, or Greg is coming on stronger w/ LSU? Obviously, I don't know how this will play out, but it was unlikely that LSU was going to sign the two best big men out of the state. Again, we're seeing what these kids can do in holding up a school's plans. Unfortunately, it feels like DJ Augustin and Demond Carter to me all over again. I'd love to see LSU get one of these guys, as opposed to lose both, but how can you recruit them both? If Moore is now dropping, where does Storm Warren sit? He's also there considering LSU. Many reports list him as a solid frontline recruit as well, 3-4 star. I'm still very nervous about this class--signing Morgan and Monroe would be a home run, losing all the big names might still be a possibility. :bball: :champs: :geauxtige LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/8964967.html?index=18&c=y This is the more of the same, but the Advocate today reports on some of the movement of LSU hoops targets on Rivals' top 150 for the class of 2007-2008. If LSU is in the serious hunting for Chris Singleton and J'Mision Morgan, that could be a very stout class. Assuming Greg Monroe is the lynchpin that starts the dominoes falling, typically good complementary players want to sign with other great players. Imagine Monroe, a wing power forward, with Morgan, a classic big man, down low and athletic wing swing forward Singleton roaming the outside? Wow. I guess though, that we'll have to wait and see. None of this may be clearer until our season is near over.... :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
Someone on the rant is posting that GT has a broken ankle, does anyone have any word on that? I have a friend who played for Appalachian State andI talked to his brother and he was telling me that he was training in Houston with some players and one name really stood our Tack Minor. The first thing that came out of my mouth was that guy sucks. He was telling me that his brother told him that tack was one of the best guys he's played with and went on to say that his coach at LSU was holding him back. Of course I defended LSU but I wounder if that's the word LSU. LSU has not had one high profile 1 or 2 commit. We got lucky with D-mitch but if I remember, he was not ranked. Tommy is only 3 stars and you only hear good things about him, i almost feel like his stars won't go up because he commited to LSU. I hope coach Dollar changes that. Anybody know how the team is doing this summer?
