Add another possible 2008 forward to LSU's target list. Rising star J'Mison Morgan lists LSU and claims and offer, according to Scout. http://louisianastate.scout.com/a.z?s=107&p=8&c=1&nid=1970104 He attends the same school Darrel Arthur did. While he's not mind-blowingly athletic like most of the frontcourt players today, he makes up with it using his massive 6-10, 275 pound frame. His hands are like magnets when he rebounds. The only thing I don't like about him is that he runs clumsily and awkwardly, and is a little slow.
The latest news from Vegas includes an offering being made to another Atlanta connection. Dennis Harris, a 6'10" big man from the class of 2008, who plays for the Atlanta Celtics, along with 6'5" SF, Delwan Graham, claims to have received a LSU offer. Both probably Dollar recruits... http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=694468 And, as the tourneys in Vegas are in full swing, apparently Brady is in Florida watching Greg Monroe... as he should. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=694498 LSU's staff is hedging a lot of bets it seems on big men, for the class of '08.
Another frontcourt prospect. You really have to wonder if the staff is uncomfortable with their position on other recruits, are creating backup plans, or are just clueless. Nonetheless: Jason Washburn, a center/forward from Michigan. Claims an offer. He excels at shooting and blocking shots from the weakside. 3.75 GPA http://lsu.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=45517#colleges He's a bit of an interesting prospect, but he's one of the skinniest people I've ever seen. Check out his footage on Rivals if you have it.
http://kansas.scout.com/2/661482.html Free Terrance Henry article. He says distance is a factor, but so is immediate playing time. I'd really like him at LSU, but I think he's only a Tiger if Greg Monroe isn't. It would be awesome if we could get both.
What's clear is that this team needs frontcourt depth. It seems to me that most of the action is on the frontcourt, with the bulk of the offers going to forwards, and swing forwards, and a few centers. Clearly, they don't know what to make of a front line with Randolph, QThornton, Johnson and Tas'. Tas' is set, but Randolph is more of an outside forward, as is Johnson. So, Q' is the only "true" center, if he is that. It also depends on what source you look at. I never know what the real situation is on offers, since Scout and Rivals don't have the same story. According to Scout, we've made an offer to another new big man on the scene, Dennis Henry, a slender 6'10" forward from GA. http://louisianastate.scout.com/a.z?s=107&p=9&cfg=bb&c=4&yr=2008 So, if you combine the two offer lists (not including kids not looking at us anymore), you've got: Greg Monroe, LA (PF) Terrence Henry, LA (SF/PF) Brandon Moore, LA-Ark (PF/C) Storm Warren, LA (PF) J'Mison Morgan, TX (C) Jason Washburn, MI (C) Dennis Henry, GA (PF) Delwan Graham, GA (SF) We were pursuing some top-notch guards early on, but they dropped off the radar. I think it's a mistake not to sign some balance in every class, but we're sort of in a weird spot for 2008.
Yep. Too bad he screwed himself out of playing for LSU. He's now looking at a career overseas. Also, I think we offered Chris Singleton, or so he claims so, but Rivals hasn't updated his list in a while. I'm pretty sure we have a legit chance at him, too.
Also, I remember reading somewhere that LSU and Miami were two schools that had just joined his recruiting scene that particularly interested him.
