I don't know if I'd say that "a lot" of people... needless to say, it's a high profile recruit considering some high profile schools. I guess it's in some sense another bell weather of where LSU basketball is and should be. Monroe has certainly played the politic-ing game well, saying he's "wide open" so he can meet with the folks like Duke and Kentucky and see the world, but at the same time careful not to shun his home state. But, who really knows where his heart lies. With Bass, Big Baby and Tas' they also said similar things, visited with some big programs and then went with LSU. I don't know if Monroe will be the same, and whether his LA ties will mean something to him. I still say it's 40/60 against us.
Now I see rumors that say we are dead even with Duke for Greg Monroe. Apparently, his mom didn't care for Coach K much. I think we're going to get him after all.
not many like rats. we will get him. duke is the worst school at developing a big man i have ever seen.
I would love to see us at the same talent level of UConn and North Carolina. I think we could get the unfaithful back to the games.
Greg Monroe, Anthony Randolph, and Tasmin Mitchell is one hell of a trio. Add in Temple, Johnson, and all of the other good players that will be seniors by then, and you're looking at one of the best LSU teams in some time.
I hope you are right and we do get him. It would be a huge shot for LSU's recruiting rep, and overall, I do think that a kid like Monroe (i.e., power forward in need of a stronger body, better inside game) will develop in LSU's system as well as anyone. And, LSU's record of getting big kids to the pros is solid. Shaq' No.1, Swift No.2, T-Train No.4. And Monroe's somewhere in there between Shaq and Swift. I don't think Duke's ever had a big man drafted in the top 3 or 4, much less one (perhaps Christian Laettner, but look at how he turned out). Be a Tiger, Greg! (The only issue with Greg coming on stronger for the Tigers is it probably scares kids like Henry, Warren and Moore. You'd like to land two of these guys if possible, and do they want to come here if Monroe does?) :geauxtige :bball: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL.
Moore is supposed to be close friends with Greg. Plus, he would compliment Greg well. He could block the shots around the rim and slew in the garbage buckets.
Big tourneys in Vegas started this past weekend. The Vegas camps are always big for the coaches, including the LSU crew, and this year is no exception. Several camps are going on right now, with several of LSU targets playing. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=693109 Not a lot of news about the Brady bunch coming out so far, but it's something to watch. A little blurb about Brandon Moore in this report... http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=693277
