Well, there was no decision on friday because he has not got his grades back. The feeling is that he still might not be able to attend school this fall. It also looks like just like LSU, UK has backed off for at least the time being to concentrate on 08. So, now it looks like he will be headed to Ole Miss, if his grades are right. Which still keeps him in the sec it doesn't have him going to a big time school.
http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=690771 Lots of gems in here for the 2008 class, 2009 class, and even the 2010 class.
Sounds like a pretty interesting prospect, although you're talking about a 2010 recruit, and it's an eternity til then. Plus, he's a CLA recruit, and we haven't had the best luck at that school... although, it's good to see that Brady is already trying. I was more wondering if all is already lost on Davarius Dunn, little bro of LaceDarius Dunn in Monroe--who would be a 2008 recruit. More news on recruiting as the summer camps continue. What's a little concerning IMO in these reports is that several "prospects" of LSU do not seem to be highlighting the Tigers. Keith Gallon, Demarcus Cousins and Noel Johnson who are all listed as interested in the Tigers on Rivals/Scout are not particularly mentioning us and it's unclear to me whether we've really offered these guys or not. http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=691244 Storm Warren, however, does have us in his top schools. So, the Louisiana connection is hopefully working for us. You also get a sense of the recruiting battle down here. 19 coaches were recently watching a Texas AAU team... including our own John Brady. http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=691068 You find that Willie Warren will announce his list in a the next month. Also, you see that LSU continues to make inroads into GA. A new name Kammeon Hosley, has surfaced. :bball: :geauxtige LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
More Greg Monroe scoop from the Peach Jam tourney this week... Brady and the rest of the college basketball elite continue to watch and wait. http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=691280 Latest reports still show that Duke, LSU and Kentucky probably lead, in that order...:bncry: But, Brady's tryin' hard at least. FWIW, you have Brady there and you have only Johnny Dawkins there for Duke.
I spoke today with a local AAU coach who painted a dim picture of Bo Spencer's ability. Needless to say, I hope this is not the case.
I realize that, I was just posting the newest news on these guys. LSU definitely started quick out of the gates last year with a lot of big names, but things have slowed down. It may be a combination of us focusing on LA talent, and signable close to home talent, or it may be the fact that these guys were just throwing LSU's name out early. Warren is an interesting prospect--great scorer and very good athletic guard, but supposedly a hothead and a little bit of a "me first" player. I can see him not liking Brady or his system. Cousins is a 6'9" big man, and when you consider that LSU is looking at up to 4 LA power forwards, it's hard to see us spending a lot of time focusing on power forwards in other markets. As for Chris Bass, he's not listing LSU. He seems to be a good PG, but is he as good as Tommy Mason Griffin, and does he want to sign with LSU a year before TMG comes here? So far, I don't see Bass listing LSU at all. I'm not sure that Brandon Bass would be promoting LSU--considering he made a mistake to leave early and is barely making the league--it's unfortunate that his mistakes and ill-will may be costing LSU with his brother.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/seth_davis/07/05/summer.preview/2.html A lot of people seem to think that we have a great chance of landing Monroe.
