We can certainly agree to disagree, but I guess your last statement says it all. We make the final four when only a few SEC teams have even gotten close in past years--but we have no talent, or talent that came to LSU in spite of Brady. Just doesn't seem fair to me IMO.

As for looking at recruiting baseline, I'll put my faith in the men that brought me Tyrus Thomas when I was one of the folks who thought he was a wasted schollie. They proved me wrong before, maybe they'll do it again (or not).

:geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. SIX NBA LOTTERY PICKS.

It was fairly well known that Mitchell was Kentucky bound if Pierre would have taken the ULL job... how is that not in spite of Brady? I have an argument and everyone knows it, but they just think it's unnecessarily negative considering the success of the program. We will see what happens if and when the local 5 star talent dries up.

I mean, look at how Florida has been able to keep lottery picks in school simply because they have 1) family ties to the program and 2) rich parents so they don't need the big dollars. That's the case with Noah, Horford AND Green. Think that isn't anything other than luck?

I was too busy focusing in on the pre-SEC meltdown and 1st round NIT/NCAA exits to worry about a recruit and whether he was wasted or not, and I have a policy of giving kids a chance on the court. So far, Voogd, Johnson, Koundjia, and Neltner haven't done much to impress anyone...

It wouldn't take a national championship cause only so many of the greatest coaches ever get to win one anyway. It would take a couple of deep tournament runs and more recruiting success from outside LA of non-foreign prep school kids that iI haven't seen thus far.

why would it take anything more than winning? why didnt you stop after mentioning the deep tournament runs? are you not satisfied if brady only wins with local kids?

I don't think LA is going to continue to produce Basses, Davises, Mitchells, and Thomases. I just don't.

    IF so, great.

i dont see why not, louisiana has always produced great athletes at a rate greater than most other states.

the non-foreign part seems particularly senseless, particularly in light of the recent success of foreigners in basketball.

The point was that it has been nigh impossible to get top recruits from other states to come to LSU other than slightly obscure foreign ones such as Koundjia, Rolle, and Lloreda. I assumed it was because of negative recruiting and the fact that those other athletes don't get to hear it.

Let's face it... if that IS going on, other coaches have a point. Fans aren't, or haven't been, exactly filling up the PMAC in recent years. Brady has been known to be a jerk to his players. LSU hasn't exactly produced tons of NBA players recently.... etc.

Hopefully this all turns around and I'll back him 100% if it does.

rolle isnt obscure, rivals.com ranked him 6th nationally at his position and 18th overall.

brady's job is to coach, the fans are the ones who go to the games.

rumor. i know he yells at them, but so do alot of coaches. saban blisters his players, oh man he destroys them. not being on the team, i dunno who we are to say the players do not like brady.

a couple top 5 picks since 2000 isnt terrible. and entering this season with a big-time national star on the team.

most people classify a final four as success.

I understand that my arguments don't have much of a leg to stand on after the Final Four. I simply don't believe that LSU's basketball success will continue because:

    1) the talent pool of 5 star athletes intimately connected to the program through alumni and assistant coaches will dry up

    2) as seen with reynolds and arthur, national top recruits simply don't want to come to LSU. arthur basically had a starting spot - and if not, about 20 minutes a game - wrapped up with the departure of thomas. reynolds ended up signing with a program who didn't even originally recruit him - and has a glut of guards - over LSU, who has a bunch of shooting guards pretending to play point guard.

you can't win and go deep into the tournament without good players and I don't believe the success will continue without being able to recruit nationally.
