Agreed, I read that article as potentially that the only offer Thorns has gotten is one from Utah State, which he's visiting soon. So, this is the question, do you continue to hope that Donnell Beverly 6'4" PG out of CA, or Bo Spencer 6'1" PG out of LA, signs with you. Or do you give a guy like Thorns an offer? I've never seen footage of Spencer, but everything I read is the kid's not a "true" point--which does seem like a problem--although, he's one of the better LA kids not yet signed, and so, do you stay loyal to LA? I like the sound of Donnell Beverly a lot, b/c he's bigger and I think there are some that would feel in a physical league like the SEC, you need more physical bodies. But, you have to wonder whether Beverly is cooling on LSU since the staff is going now hard after Spencer. Regardless, I like the sound of Thorns, a kid that's a truer PG than Spencer, quick, has a good shot, passes pretty well and can penetrate and dish (the video shows some decent stuff). You can never underestimate the importance of quickness, in my book. :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. ONE FINAL FOUR AIN'T BAD.
this program is in no position to play recruiting games. if they like thorns, even if not as much as they like beverly, offer him. tell beverly they like him, but need to make sure they sign a pg. give him a chance to give a verbal first. next year could very well be a rerun of this year if a pg isnt signed (oh, except for the high preseason rankings).
I agree. I think you give Thorns an offer. No sense in "waiting" for kids who string you a long fishing for the BBD. I think the Spencer recruitment kind of leaves me torn. Here's a kid that obviously got some schollie offers. He's a decent shooter, LA kid, and I don't disagree with giving him an offer. But, he's not quite what our system needs and he seems (in the interviews) to not necessarily be enthusiastically all about LSU. Bottomline, though, we gave a good LA player his offer. If he doesn't want to be here, someone else who fits our system and wants to be here, should be given the chance. I think one of Brady and staff's traits, which in some sense could be considered admirable, is loyalty to their recruits. But, they were burned by Augustin when they stayed loyal to him, and I don't want to see that happen again.
Well, with the last weekend for on-campus visits prior to the Spring signing day this Wednesday, any news on how hoops recruits liked their visits? LSU was reported to host Bo Spencer, while UCONN hosted Donnell Beverly. It doesn't look good now for the Tigers with Beverly, as he's not mentioning LSU after his trip to UConn. http://www.journalinquirer.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=18181499&BRD=985&PAG=461&dept_id=569454&rfi=6 As reported by some, Beverly cooled somewhat on the Tigers with Marcus Thornton's commitment. Crowded backcourt, or fear that Thornton may be tried some at point? Let's hope that Thornton can play some point, folks. In any case, what does Spencer do? It seems as though both Beverly and Spencer were angling for that UConn point guard offer, and Beverly comes out the victor. Again, perhaps the Tigers should be bringing Hank Thorns in for a visit and making him an offer? I guess we wait for a few more days... Spencer would be the hometown signing, and a Glen Oaks signee... not a bad school to get some ink from. :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
With BCG leaving TAMU, is their any chance we get in on Deandre Jordan again? I believe we were a finalist for him.
