I'm not. We seem better than them the last 2 years. And Beverly needs to realize that the ONLY reason we're losing right now is because we lack a legit PG. TO's will go down, and we will beat presses better. In other news, if Thabeet is the one being ran off, I'd be happy as hell to have him here.
Wow. when you read those quotes of Calhoun, he makes Brady look like Mother Theresa. I've never seen a coach flat out call out his players like that. With stuff like that you wonder how the guy recruits these kids. It sounds a lot like he recruited these guys, had no idea how to use them and motivate this year, and now wants to make room for new guys. Perhaps there is something to these folks saying he can recruit but can't coach. I sure hope that Beverly realizes he should not want any part of that....
Article on Beverly, front page of Tigerbait. Makes me feel a little more comfortable. However, he has an offer from UCONN. But we beaaaaat them.
Ok, I've been out for the week. Enjoying a little R&R and some march madness. Thought I'd post this just to keep the '06-07 thread in tact... http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/6631062.html Obviously, I've been advocating signing Thornton. Not the point guard we probably hoped would be coming, but a dependable scorer, which the Tigers need regardless of the position. Good signing, and it sounds like he wanted to be a Tiger for some time, but needed the JUCO route to straighten out. You have to respect the kids that want to be at LSU, contribute and play for in purple and gold. Now, the search for a "true" point continues... :geauxtige :bball: :champs:
well, here's one. a forward http://media.www.dailycampus.com/media/storage/paper340/news/2007/03/21/Sports/Eaves.To.Transfer.From.Uconn-2784250.shtml
Well advocates of signing LA kids, this news should make you happy. Apparently, the LSU staff has (finally wised up?) stepped up their recruitment of Bo Spencer right out of LA. Here's the story from the Advocate... we may not have been too far off some time ago--except we land Thornton and Spencer. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/6764642.html I've been wondering why these guys weren't on Bo earlier, but honestly, he's probably also matured during his senior year and impressed some folks. From what I know, he's a good shooter, solid passer, but not the quickest or best guy in breaking down a d. I don't know what this means vis a vis Donnell Beverly, but at this point, I think it wouldn't hurt to give Bo a chance. He's a hometown guy, a point guard, and has seemed to play himself into 20 scholarship offers... Anyone in the Bayou state care to comment on the boy's SKEELLs? Bo, be a Tiger. :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. ONE FINAL FOUR AIN'T BAD.
"Spencer is a good scorer but a pure point he is not. Spencer struggled to get by defenders with the dribble and pressure knocked off his scoring ability. " -Rivals We had way too much of that this past season. I'd prefer a no-doubt-about-it PURE point guard, say Donnell Beverly.
I know, I have the same concerns. You wonder if the kid really is the answer at PG, but I wonder what warm and fuzzies Brady got after going out to Cali to talk to Beverly. But, if it's true that Spencer racked up 20 schollies, including Oklahoma and Virginia, these schools must have seen something in him, right? Would you rather have Spencer or Voogd?
