Damn. Thanks for doing that research. I tooled around with one of those websites and found some pictures of our very own Anthony Randolph:

And potential LSU point guard and teammate of Anthony, Nathen Garth:

We are recruiting Nathan Garth, and we could certainly use him. I really wish we'd gone after Brockeith Paine this year, he was on Randolph's AAU team and is going to be very good for the University of Houston the next 4 years. He was rated in the Rivals 150 and had a lot of interest in LSU even before Randolph did. It's a pity that Brady really can't get guards into the program.

    For what it's worth....

Garrett Green's playing more... averaging 7 ppg and, it appears he will really test the ability of the staff to develop him. He's shooting 71% from three land (5 of 7) so he's got a shot for a big man, but then he's shooting 35% from the charity stripe.

With a redshirt year and playing against the likes of Anthony Randolph, could he be made into something?

He also gets a little pub for playing with Taft in a recent tourney the Gatorade shootout that was played in Minnesota... was called a project, with flashes of potential...

There were a good number of holiday high school tourneys, and here is a snapshot of A.R....

A guy that's 6'10" is only averaging 7 points and 2 rebounds per game? And he's being recruited to be a D1 athlete?

    Hmmm.

"Garrett Green came up with one of the more memorable plays. The seldom-used 6-foot-9 Taft junior was open in transition with only Darnell Gant, a highly-touted underclassman being recruited by UCLA and Washington, standing between him and the basket.

Green went up and over Gant with a one-handed dunk while being fouled and made the subsequent free throw to complete the three-point play.

"We always tease Garrett about being a practice dunker and not being able to dunk in games," Taft sophomore Larry Drew said. "Guess we won't do that anymore. That one should give him a confidence boost." "

Brady missed big on that one. I don't think Green will ever contribute anymore. We shouldn't be recruiting anyone who's only contribution will be being an added body in practice. Should have used that scholarship for Marcus Simmons or Leonard Washington....what a waste.

Right now, I'll say that I don't disagree with you. I was scratching my head with this signing, although I'm not the one sitting at all of these summer camps. The word is that Texas A&M and 'SC both, after seeing Green play at the camps, were prepared to have him in for visits. I think the other thing Brady is doing (as many folks have probably said on this site), is that he wanted to go into CA and get a recruit. Taft is a year in and year out hotbed. Larry Drew is Garrett's teammate, and there are always recruits at that school... so, you pick your poison. Establish in-roads recruiting nationally, take a gamble on a big kid (6'10" guys who can hit the three don't come around every day), or sign another 6'5" swing in Simmons, or a 6'6" tight end in Washington, both of whom "reported" to have either academic or character issues.

Not sure right now. Simmons or Washington would have been an in-home pick up of a higher ranked recruit. Simmons is an athletic wing guy, with an ok outside shot (would he be another D. Mason)? Washington would be playing forward behind Randolph, Mitchell and potentially Thornton. What you may be getting in Green is a kid who will play hard in practice, redshirt and get better over 5 years (that's the if).

I actually would have probably been happy with signing three in Randolph, Wright and Thornton, and loaded up with one more this year...
but I was wrong about T-Train...

Green isn't going to get us Drew. Drew has USC, UCLA, and kinds of WCC and Pac-10 schools over there for hm.

Certainly, landing Drew is a pipedream and never part of the plan. But, Brady's laying the ground work--what was interesting was also that Alex Farrer was a graduate from St. Mary's in AZ... they had a player Jerryd Bayless who was one of the most highly sought after guards this year. Brady and Butch aren't picking schools with no pedigree...

Who knows with LSU continuing to do well, with Shaq' and his LA connections, I could see us getting some fringe players from CA every now and then...

Blah. I'll pass on the occasional Garret Green.

The only pipeline I really see us having is Magnum and Chris Johnson's school in NC, called Lauderdale or something.

Also, Canada could give us a few good prospects in the next 3 years. DJ Wright, Olu Ashaolu, and Junior Cadougan.

Anthony Randolph's Woodrow Wilson gives us a possible back-up plan if Greg Monroe goes elsewhere. Woodrow produces Will Brown, who is a 2008 4 star per Scout.

Finally, James Tyler's school will produce a monster in 2009 named Karron Johnson. Will James leer him towards LSU?

Which reminds me, has TommyMG started to recruit other opponents and teammates for LSU yet? I hope he gets into a couple of All-Star camps in the south and makes friends with some other high-rated players.
