with reed out for the year, Collins and chest and fountain and Rob Miller are gonna have to play well. chest I suspect will be awesome, owing to massive motor and athleticism. fountain is just a basic player, but his defense is solid. miller is improving but cant shoot yet. Collins has been a FORCE on defense and a competent dunker. I actually don't think the loss of reed is catastrophe. its not great, but the minutes taken by Collins and chest are in good hands. there will be a new starting lineup in the post-reed era sunday. my guess is Collins and chest up front. the first game it was reed and Miller.
well the next three games are against absolutely miserable teams. one of them is literally the lowest ranked team in the country. like 360th or something. so all 3 should be easy wins. a loss would be hugely destructive to the NET rankings. after these 3 wins this week and next, LSU will have a NET ranking of 55-65. this is no reason for alarm because the SEC is a weekly opportunity for a massive win. go 500 in the league and you are positively going to the dance. so every SEC win should be considered a huge step towards tournament entry. the problems with the ream continue to be: 1. inability to score or shoot the 3 when carter and sears are not in the game and playing well. 2. stretches of wild play and turnovers and lack of calm. this is how they lost the game to SMU. in the second half they started throwing the ball away and to SMU. will wade used to say he would rather you throw the ball into the stands than make a live ball turnover, becasue live ball turnovers lead to transition baskets. and that's what happened, and they lost the lead, and the game because of it. seems like a problem they can solve.
yep, both of my predictions above for what I hope doesn't happen has happened. turnovers are a terrible problem, and sears and Carter are not scoring. radio guy hunt palmer says he expects 2 wins. 2 wins surely means the coach has to go. I know a guy in lake Charles that can coach
great game. it was good to see Mike Williams get some time. he has two of the exact skills they need, ballhandling without turnovers, and 3 point shooting. calipari is a shit coach
alright while we shouldn't purchase our final four tix just yet I still think they can be ok. I think Mike Williams can help solve the two issues I find most glaring. ball handling/turnovers and 3 point shooting. mike Williams was the PG to start the season last year before cook was available. he was fine. he wasn't amazing, but he was solid. and he plays hard on defense and does not make many mistakes. he can play the PG or SG position and maybe most importantly he can be placed in the corner as a wing to pull his defender out of the post. last game I saw fountain camping out there and his man just left him alone, daring him to shoot. this messes up the offense for everyone. non-shooters are so potentially destructive to the offense. and at the moment both bailey and givens are non shooters. I think givens may develop his shot, but bailey shoots like a malnourished retard. I know fountain can shoot a little. but he isn't really much of an offensive threat otherwise, he is a very bad finisher at the rim and not an effective rebounder. he does play great defense though and his over/under is usually great. Texas a&M is a one trick pony. they do one thing and one thing only. they rebound. they are amazing at it. they have the bigs jump and tap the ball perfectly to guards outside somehow, its magic. I have never seen a better rebounding team. last year, mcmahon went to college station and out rebounded them and won easily. they they came here and beat us. its a winnable game. and any win in the SEC is huge geaux.
getting beat byt the top 5 bama squad in Tuscaloosa is not shameful For the first time since January 30, 2016, the Tigers will welcome an AP #1 team into the PMAC. Auburn Wednesday at 6. I will be there. a good chance to turn the season around.
Did not get to watch the Aubie game but heard a couple of key stats on Hunt Palmer's show. We actually out-percentaged them from the field, 47% made to 40%. So how do we lose by a dozen or so? We gave up something like 20 offensive rebounds, leading to their getting 80 FG attempts to our 51. Can't win like that.
