No, no, no....you are the one who said that 47% do not pay taxes, not me. I know it is hard to fathom but a good deal of people voted to have their taxes raised and were happy to do it; including me, but it's the truth.
I also will never understand why you have to vote for a tax increase on yourself when nothing stopped you from donating more
Real leaders, real statesmen, and real intellects mostly shun politics because they have to be a liar and a shill for the special interests that gamble billions on elections. The kind of people that are good at graft, propaganda, partisan warfare, and political skullduggery rise to the top in the money-oriented system we have now with unlimited corporate and anonymous $billions (some foreign) that it takes to buy a Presidential campaign. The elections last too long, cost too much, and try the patience of the American public. Elections in Britain last for 4 months by law. Ours should be reduced to 6 months, contributions should be above-board and reduced to $1000 as it was once before. PACS should be outlawed and lobbyists should lose all special access to politicians. The Electoral College Winner-take-all system is antiquated and was designed to prevent the unmanageable proliferation of tiny local parties in the 18th century. Today in an era of mass commnications it conveniently prevents the emergence of legitimate national third parties and so is enshrined by the dems and GOP. If a smart natural leader considering national politics did not have to sell his soul to special interests, sell his honesty to political expediency, and surrender his pragmatism in favor of the ideology that supports him . . . then maybe the kind of person with real Presidential timber that we all are looking for would step up. And she will.
Well said and when Oprah gives Martin free membership into her book club, she has his vote. But you do know that's not reality. This process is far too corrupt to change in any of our lifetimes.
I know he'll follow through on the taxes. I just hope he follows through on the spending. Our situation is going to get dire soon.
