I guess Holtz was just so used to Notre Dame getting assists from officiating that he assumes it happens everywhere!
I'd figured that since the refs ruled that the game wasn't really over because of Tenn's penalty, it would have meant that the game wasn't over when our lineman threw his helmet, and they might have called that. I'm glad they didn't, mind you.
I think the penalty was the right call. I'm more concerned about the pitiful coaching on the LSU side. It's like they didn't contemplate what they would do if they didn't in the end znne. Maybe they called 2 plays in the huddle but why would you chose a play that required substitutions or why not clock it? Did they think they could squeeze in 2 more plays? In the end, it is more pathetic time management and bad decisions by this coaching staff yet again. LSU was lucky that the mismanagement was just as poor on the otherside of the ball. I'm not even going to talk about JJ lining up behind the guard or the pathetic QBs we have. At least we won and hopefully something good will come of this.
Yeah, Dooley should be concerned about the fact that he and his coaches could not recognize that they had 13 defenders in. All they had to do was call a timeout and there is no extra play, just one good play, winner take all. I know it is hard to count to 13 in 5 seconds, but as a coach, can't you just realize you have 13 players on the field?
