Not often is there a reason for hockey news here, but GAH! word is he's stable but prayers go out to him.
I don't mean to make a joke of this by any means, but I am reminded of Happy Gilmore. "I was the 1st person to take off my skate and try to stab somebody."
I play hockey here in Texas and was kicked in the helmet by a skate last night (I wear a full cage). Then I get home and see this on SportsCenter. Amazing. The speed at which those NHLers play at its amazing there aren't more skate related injuries. And those suckers are razor sharp, the get a full sharpen before every game. Hacks like me do it every 10 games or so. Glad to see Richard is alright.
Further proof that Ice Hockey is the toughest game to play. I can proudly say that I don't even know how skate with rollerblades, much less ice skates.
its an amazing sport and ridiculous good exercise. I burn about 1000 calories in an hour. honestly the lack of amateur hockey in S. La is a major reason why we keep putting off moving back. Oh, and the crime.
I honestly did not realize the blade on those skates were that sharp. It makes sense, but I don't watch hockey at all, it really just never occurred to me that they would sharpen them to that extent. I'm glad he's doing well. Amazing that the guy actually made it to the hospital.
I'm sorry to inform you that the time for hockey in S. La has come and gone already. Remember the Ice Gators?
Lafayette has a pretty good men's league (ex-Icegators and Yankee transplant Oilfield workers). There's also the Jr. B Catahoulas. The Hockeyplex is a great arena considering this is South Louisiana.
