So we had a HS playoff game here a few days ago. Game is down to the final minute and team A is down by a few points and it is 4th and 5. They run a play, little out route, guy catches it and breaks it down the sideline. The Ref is trailing the play and one of the coaches is inside the "no fly zone" and the ref has to go around him. Team scores thinks they won.

Ref drops the flag, it happens to be the 2nd penalty for sideline infraction. Ref's confer, decide to bring the play back so now it is 4th and 21, coach goes nuts so another UC and tack on 15 more.

    Team A loses the game.

The day after the big wig of HS officials is on the radio saying "man we really blew that one" That penalty should have been assessed on the PAT or the ensuing kickoff.

What a shitty way for that teams season to end and why can't we have this type of transparency with NCAA officials.

Are you sure those weren't SEC officials? Probably part of Tom Ritter's crew moonlighting on the side.

They had a meeting yesterday with the governing body of Ok high school football. I think they were trying to get the final 01:04 of the game replayed after assessing the penalty the correct way.
I'm in Houston so I don't know the outcome but I'm guessing it was denied.

I'm pretty sure if that happens in college what the officials did in that game would be the right thing to do according to the rules.

Idk, would have to look it up but doesn't seem right. The foul/penalty in this case occurred off the field and by a non competitor. I think that is a dead ball and it would be assessed on the next play.
