I have spoken with and interviewed every player. Desean and John Diarse are going to be tough pulls, more so than Williams. Just to give you an idea of something, when I spoke with Lamar Louis and several recruits in the 2012 class, Lamar was one of my reasons I felt like Landon Collins would go to Alabama. There is also a rule of thumb that I live by, I generally go by having two confirmed sources on any information before I act on it. Collins to Alabama was something that has been known by many of the La. players for over a year. Regardless of what you may heard from other people. Anyone who has followed my reports from other sites can confirm what I'm saying on that front. I may not always have the information you are looking for, or say what you want to hear, but I live solidly by the fact to report what I know without taint or agenda driven motives. As most sites request for a link to certain information, I can't link a phone conversation. I can just relay what I have heard. Hopefully this answers your question. Bhelm can attest to my reports in other places on Landon just to use one example.
Diarse ain't coming here, but I wouldn't be too alarmed. He's got to learn the position. He's projecting as a WR because he's a super athlete, but he's considered to not be tall enough nor have the arm strength for QB. He's a Russell Shephard basically. Not that it's a bad thing, but if we're losing a guy who has to be taught the receiver position, despite his stature among the state's recruits, and gaining guys who've been playing receiver for years, I'm not alarmed. He's played some receiver in gimmick packages, but he hasn't done the route running, the blocking, the level of pass catching a staff should really prefer in a WR recruit. Same as I feel about what Shephard should've done...he should play DB. Can't take away what kind of player he's been though. And that was from game one as a freshman and on both sides of the ball. He ate our (Bastrop) asses alive as a freshman, and every year since. Good riddance!!!
Does DeSean Smith have a lean at this point or is it wide open? Please don't say Bama. If he's looking to be a pass catching TE (a ME guy...not that it's a horrible thing), he should probably go to Oklahoma or Arkansas honestly. We haven't used the TE consistently since 07. Another thing that might scare off Smith...John Thomas is going to be an animal if he gets enrolled.
I'm sure the hire of Crutchfield will certainly help Bama with this one. I think it's a 99.9% that we end up losing Diarse, probably to Bama. We all know about Rickey, and he will most likely leave as well. DeSean Smith currently has us at #3 with Bama as his first choice. DeSean says that he doesn't feel like LSU utilizes their TE's enough... but I wouldn't say Bama is exactly TE-U either. And they already have a commit from one of the top 2013 TE's in OJ Howard. So not sure why Bama is his first choice. I am not sure about Tim Williams though. I know it is a battle between LSU and Bama, but I thought LSU was in the lead. If we lose him, especially to Bama, that would be a huge blow seeing how he goes to U-High right by LSU campus with a lot of LSU coaches' sons. If he goes to Bama, that would be the epitome of stealing from our backyard...
