Here's to Jalen Collins

Finally got some information out of Baton Rouge, here is my press pass so folks wont call bullshit. One of my uncle is an assistant coach at McNeese, he is close friends with Brick Haley and Adam Henryn (actually both of those coaches are frat brothers of mine and my uncle)

This has been in the pike, Tyrann has been an active influence during the spring and camp and not in a good way. The last drug test was just the icing on the cake. I was told Miles was ok (in so many words) with dumping him, because Collins and Eugene are the real deal. So they felt comfortable without dropping off.

Collins was being picked on during the Spring Game for a reason, this was it.

 

I didn't think it was a big surprise to the staff. If not, they've been preparing the youngsters.

 

They have been knowing this one for a while. They knew how this one was going to play out.

 

Do you have any insight as to how his replacements are doing?

 

Matthieu was poison on the team.

Last time, Ware and Tharold Simon got suspended with him. I don't think Mathieu was alone this time either. Dude was selfish and needed to go because he put himself above the team last season AND this season...the greatest era in LSU football history.

I'm glad he's gone !!

 

Les has talked about these DB's just about every press conference. They have guys that are college ready now. Like I said, the early games, just need a little playing time. The down linemen are a DB's best friend. LSU has 8 counting the two deep. You look at LSU's backup down linemen, they could start for 90% of the college teams now. Downs, Ego, Edwards and Rasco, thats a great set of backups. Those 8 guys all have a shot in the Pro's. I was talking with a Pro scout today, if the NFL Draft was held today, he thinks Mingo and Montgomery would both be top 10 picks.

 

I'm NOT saying I agree with the following but it is Mel Kiper's opinion from less than a week ago....he has Mingo going 3rd overall and Montgomery 5th overall....NOT talking DE's, talking the entire NFL draft.

 

That is good, but with anything, depends on others that come out and team needs. This always comes into play. Faulk could be in the top 20 picks also. PJ around the third. Hurst maybe 2nd.? As it gets a closer, I'll get a feel for it. Mett with a good year? Wing? Logan? Too many days between now and then.
