It's easy. No rocket science involved whatsoever I swear. Ditch the FB. We have none. No more 2 TE sets. We don't have 2 good blocking TEs. No more I formations with Keiland and Scott. It just doesn't work. You refuse to do anything innovative with it, so ditch it as well. Everything from here on out should be 3 and 4 WR sets. The 4th WR replaces Dickson in that case. Always a running back to keep the defenses honest. All running plays are either quick pitches to KW, Shepard or Holliday to the outside edge, delayed handoffs to Scott/KW on what appears to be obvious passing formations, or delayed QB runs up the middle. We have 3 super talented wideouts in Toliver, Lafell and Randle. Couple that with the emergence of RJ Jackson (unsung hero up to now), and you got the makings of a QB who can throw for 300 yards constantly, and against anyone in the nation. I just checked and the back of Jordan Jefferson's ears seem to be dry now. Let's go.
I agree about us being able to throw good but we NEED a running game. When its 2nd and 2 and get run for a loss we are force to pass and they know it. It hurt us today.. IF we could run the ball we would have had another 2-3 TD's.. and took more time off the clock from their O.
You have a running game with this gameplan, trust me. Why do you need to feel all comfy knowing we can run in a power formation? I don't remember that ever being a prerequisite for offensive coordinators being successful. We'll average 6 yards per carry plus with this formation. And no one would be calling for a bunched up formation anymore after that.
I actually pretty much agree... teams have been stacking especially on 1st and 2nd... Jefferson has to improve even if it means a loss. You are not going to win in the SEC with that Scott up the middle play folks, that can be an option but teams are playing in that hole. All the roll outs are gone, the WR screens are gone, the Scott up the middle has been gone since the beginning of last year. I agree with the post, it might mean a loss or two but either Jefferson or Lee or whoever needs to learn how to pass from the pocket. They must improve, you can't do that by trying to run into a 8-9 man front. Great post BTW.
Because the short side was Ciron's side is only thing I can figure out. He is our only chance to run behind, unfortunately the defenses know this too. I didn't notice it done to many times to the other side. Could be wrong though.
the key word is ALL. Unfortunately we have a hard-headed guy like Miles who is a old school Big 10 coach. They MUST run the ball.
