If we're not in the SECCG, then who cares what seed we finish in the SEC West? And what's with the dominating the division for two years? We've been to the SECCG every odd year this decade, but have never made it two years in a row. In the even years, we've always been bested by some other team.
You're cherry picking. I was wrong, we played 11 reg season games in 1985: Year: 1985 Overall: 9-2-1 SEC: 4-1-1 Coach: Bill Arnsparger Sept 14 North Carolina W 23-13 Sept 21 Colorado State W 17-3 Oct 5 Florida L 0-20 Oct 12 Vanderbilt W 49-7 Oct 19 Kentucky W 10-0 Nov 2 Ole Miss W 14-0 Nov 9 Alabama T 14-14 Nov 16 Mississippi State W 17-15 Nov 23 Notre Dame W 10-7 Nov 30 Tulane W 31-19 Dec 7 East Carolina W 35-15 But with the alignment of the SEC into east and west, we added 1 SEC game every year. In this case, that was probably Ga. this season. North Carolina, Colo. St., Tulane, and E. Carolina don't look that imposing from back there. We played 3 teams in the top 10 when we played this year, how many defending champs faced that in their season? I know you don't know, don't expect an exact answer, but LSU had a very hard schedule this season.
I for one am gonna hold out hope that Les Miles hires a kick ass DC and we come back with a vengeance. Bottom line, status quo in the coaching staff = 5 losses again next season. It's up to Les.
I am not down on LSU. Matter of fact I am a Les Miles supporter (As seen in another post) But I am also a realist. My point is I STILL wont want to run Miles if we only win 8 games next year. I am not somone ignorant to the fact LSU is kind of a rebuilding mode. We have issues at some key positions. It will get fixed and I may be wrong but if we think changing the DC and getting a new freshman QB is going to solve some of the issue LSU had this year, I htink we are sadly mistaken. LSU really needs to rebuild in several areas. They will but it will take some growing pains.
houtiger, what I am saying is the NCAA added a 12th game a few years back to everyone's schedule and because of that LSU is 7-5 this season and not 6-5. We would have had 5 losses in an 11 game schedule this season.
This is a sobering post. If that's the case, then Les Miles is NOT doing his job. No way in hell should LSU be considered in rebuilding mode, with top 5/top 10 classes every single year.
Agreed! But we need more than just a DC. We need a DL coach, LB coach, and DB coach. All three phases of the defense were horrible this year.
Herbstreit is an asshat. I don't know how else to put it. If I were a betting man, I could probably make a fortune betting against every one of his predictions.
