Says we will win 7 or 8 games.

So the public perception already is that this is a program on the decline.

All the more reason Les Miles needs to right this ship and get the best DC possible in the coming weeks.

Sad to say it, but this program is at a crossroads only 1 year removed from a national title.

    Who'd a thunk it?

    Some facts:

First team to have a losing record in their conference since 194? (can't remember the exact year).
First team to lose 5 games since 1984.

Yeah but he's a moron... don't forget about his predictions for the NC last year when he said OSU would kill us. I think we'll improve and see some major changes in the next few months. If not then I could possibly agree here, but I don't see any coach ignoring these issues and doing nothing about them... not unless they like the unemployment line.

I blame MILES….No discipline, none. We look like a bunch of un-discipline idiots. If MILES does not right the ship quickly, he might not have a job somewhere down the line. WE SUCK

    Nice first post.....
Really wonder if you are an LSU fan....
Waited for the down moment to jump in eh ????

As for Herbstriet, I dont know if disagree with him. I think LSU will not have a "Championship" season next year. They will be very young at QB still. I think we will know on Feb 5th signing day, if top players leave Louisiana (Randle for example) and some of our current commitments bail out. Then yes I think the momentum towards the Hallman years will pick up. BUT if he can keep the class we have, pick up some suprises, in a year or two LSU will be as a force in the west. Keep in mind the Auburns, Bama, Arkansas, and even Ole Miss of the world are improving to.
8 wins I think is a reasonable season for us I think.

Herbsteit's predictive powers are poor to say the least....he just picked Ga Tech over Ga.

Anyway, I don't get the pessimism for the future.....LSU problems are all FIXABLE!!!

The most important element for a college program is talent level and LSU is loaded. As long as CLM holds this recruiting class together and puts sharper coaches in LSU will bounce back with a vengence.

Les is in trouble only if he allows recruiting to take a hit. In that case, all bets are off but I don't see any objective reason for that to take place. I imagine most solid recruits are looking forward to any and all positions being open for competition this spring. That is a POSITIVE for recruiting.....as is upgrades on the coaching staff.

The statement about first team to lose 5 games since 84 (I guess you mean the year after a nat. championship) is unfair since its apples to oranges comparison. When was a 11th game added, 90's, and when was the 12 game per year added, 3 years ago. For over half the time period, teams only played 10 regular season games per year, so they had an opportunity to lose 1 or 2 fewer games per season. Also before the BCS, the SEC was not positioned to win that many nat. championships since we had a hard conference and seldom went undefeated. So the champ came from the big 10, pac 10, ND, big 8. There was not the balance in those conferences that you typically see in the SEC. I don't things are as bad as that statistic might indicate.

Nice try, but our 12th game, and I'll let you take your pick to remove it, is either Tulane, App State, Troy or North Texas.

We would have been 6-5 in 1984.

So you just made things worse, actually.

Anybody on this entire forum thought in their wildest nightmares we would come to this conclusion for the 09 season?

By god, how times have changed for the much worse.

Another 7 or 8 win season next year and I think that recruiting fence that has been around Louisiana for some time will begin to open again and Miles may never be able to right the ship.
We all will know a lot more at this time next year.

    I agree with this post.

5 more losses next year and this thing may very well be slipping away from us and the powers that be will have the unenviable task of making a tough decision, sooner than later.
