It's funny how the Mike Leach side of the Bill Snyder coaching tree gets so much love. People are blindly in love with offense.

I live in Aggie Land. Another bad season (maybe 2) at A&M and Sumlin could find himself on the hot seat. The Aggies expectations are extremely high around here. Little look at Sumlins History since arriving and having one big year with Sherman's recruits

    2012: 11-2 (6-2 in SEC)
    2013: 9-4 (4-4 in SEC)
    2014: 8-5 (3-5 in SEC)

I think its asinine to talk about Sumlin getting canned, but his program is going the wrong direction and since joining the SEC Aggie fans have increased their expectations tremendously. If he cant steer the ship and A&M goes 7-5 again or find itself at the bottom of the West, I can see that seat warming up a bit

They seem to think Chavis will be their savior, but they are overlooking something important. Chavis' bend but don't break defenses depend on having better talent than what they are lined up against. The theory being that if you make them drive the length of the field eventually the better talent will make a play. The problem is, the faggies have never had top tier talent on defense. They have a player or two that are as good as any, but don't have the talent LSU fields on a yearly basis. I think their D will be improved with Chavis, but will still give up many points. They won't be winning games with their defense any time soon.

Plus, if A&M's offense is any good, their D will be out there a lot and wear out quickly. Third and Chavis ain't gonna cut it.

No doubt Chavis will be an improvement but it wont be what the Aggies think they are getting. Yes, they truly believe they will have an LSU caliber defense this season, strictly because Chavis said the talent he has there is just as good as the talent he had at LSU and Tenn. Huge mistake by Chavis, because Aggie fans are already holding him to that. Some of my best friends and colleagues are Aggie fans and they really have no idea of what it takes to field a strong defense. They completely over look strong run games, clock management, field position, time of possession, etc. all the components that make strong defenses great.

True story, I asked my buddy yesterday how he felt about Saturdays matchup against Arizona St and their high powered offense.....his exact response, our defense will be fine, we have Chavis. As if Chavis is some magic potion. When mentioned LSU's lack of pass rush and rush defense as of late, its "oh we have Miles Garrett and Daylon Mack" and blah blah blah. One of the most delusional fan bases on the planet.

Right now, all Aggies care about, is that they were left out of the top 25. That's it. The season starts Saturday and they have a chance to prove it, and they are all still up in arms about being disrespected and everybody sleeping on them. So annoying.

I can't wait to hear Chavis get booed at Kyle Field. I hope I'm watching when it happens

All fan bases are delusional unless you happen to be a fan of some perennial loser like Vanderbilt who usually lives down to expectatations.
