That's an interesting opinion that has not been suggested before!

I it rattled the team, Miles had to address them that morning, and that's why I think it was bush league to go with it the morning of the game.

    Bad Herbie! and Bad ESPN!

Hell hath frozen over. In a straight up with USuCk, Herbie gives us the nod for #2 ovr them. Now that is a give, right? Not with this dude. I guess we could cut him some slack. :hihi:

kirk herbstreit deserves not quarter from any lsu fan. at the start of the season, it was clear he has something against lsu. this "appeared" to change at the point where if he didn't jump on the lsu bandwagon, he would just look stupid and lose whatever credibility people thought he had. now, the debacle today, simply is the icing on the cake that is rotting with herbstreit bias. his sucking up now, is just that - herbie doing a dance to look pretty for the public and quietly putting in his cup before someone takes a shot at his oversized balls. lsu proved something out there today but he will never accept it. no sir. no quarter for mr. herbstreit. he is underserving.

maybe next time, i'll tell ya how i really feel. ;)

the Vegas line moved 2.5 points for a brief period following Herby's announcement.

You can make a case for it being unethical, but ethics don't matter any more. It's not just Herbstreit and ESPN. There isn't a news org. in the country that would hold back a big story, if they felt that it was a situation in which they had their competition scooped. It's just how things are nowadays, (and that's not always a good thing)

Shouldn't you have to be RIGHT???

Miles said it was "erroneous" info, and it hurt his players. That's wrong.

In an ideal world, of course he should be right. But in his world right doesn't matter near as much as having confirmed sources. In Herbie's world, if you have sources (meaning more than 1), that tell you something, it's reportable whether it's true or not.

Herbstreit is probably telling the truth, as he knows it. But manipulating the press has become an art form in this country. My guess is that somebody with an agenda gave that info to Herbstreit. What that agenda might be is anybody's guess right now.

I'm not defending Herbstreit. I'm just saying that's how it is, and Herbstreit is just like any other tv or newspaper guy with a story. It's coming out, if it's confirmed. I don't like it any better than you do, but that's how it is.
