I think Kirk Herbstreit and ESPN were unethical in going with their report that Miles was leaving LSU on the morning of the SECCG. Let's say Herb had a creditable report to that effect, why not wait about 8 hours until the SECCG game was over and report it at 7 PM. That report really bunged the players, and Miles anger over the incident was over the "eroneous information from ESPN" that he "had to address with his players". That kind of info at that point in time could have affected the outcome of the game, and I think that it is unethical to go with heresay info at that point in time. SHAME on ESPN and Herbstreit!!! :geauxtige  SEC :champs: 2007 !!!
Just part of the business to speculate, assume, and rely on supposedly trustworthy sources. It's also about the ratings with all personal feelings aside.
$5 says ESPN blames "The Internets" and "bloggers who do not subscribe to any ethical code" or "a 24 hour new cycle that leaves the cautious in the dust" just like they did a couple of weeks ago when Mort was reporting all of these rumored NFL injuries as fact and was proven wrong in secoinds. The fact is, Herbie got hornswaggled. If he'd just man up and say his source gave him incorrect info, i'd be ok with it. But his attempted teflon impersonation during the B12 champ game wasn't even fooling musburger or corso
The best way to describe this week, and especially the last three days, is like a chamelean. You walk outside and see a blue lizard, yell at your friends to come see the blue lizard, by the time they get there the damn thing is yellow. They call you a liar, then they tell their friends they saw a yellow lizard, get em to come look and the damn thing is green. Everyone is wrong. The only people who look like they know what the hell they are talking about are they ones who said There ain't no damn lizard.
Herbstreit's "source" may well have been Desmond Howard, who is a member of U-M search committee to find new coach. If so, shame on Desmond for leaking privilaged info to help ESPN get a "scoop'. If true, Howard is goat, not Herbie.
It all comes down to an Ohio St. guy trying to poison a UM guy's chance to win his conference championship and it backfired.
