I think the uniforms were more about the material then the color scheme. Not sure why they did mostly white, but I reckon they can throw some color in there. The helmets looked righteous, and really turned the page to old school. I thought the shoes were kind of cool. When you saw a player run away from you, it looked like their feet were on fire.
My only concern is that we have 20 other sports venues that that is not the color they have. We would have to change the entire color scheme for the entire athletic dept, just because Nike got a hold of our football team. That said, the only thing I really didn't like about the uni's was not enough color in them. Tooo much white.
I agree with some that they did grow on me during the game. It doesn't matter which one they wear but I don't oppose them. Do need to get rid of the white pants. But then, do we want purple pants (they've been retired after that Halloween in my mind)? We'd have to go with that same color gold on the pants. But if they had lost against the pigs, I'd hate the new uniforms.
The gold on those helmets were used prior to the 1958 season. It was the color on LSU's leather helmets and then on the first set of hard shelled helmets prior to Deitzel changing the colors and uniforms.
