How do you suppose the indigent will meet their deductibles and their copays? My bet is that the health care providers end up eating it and the rest of us make it up in the form of higher bills. Not to mention that it will screw up the indigents' opportunities of climbing out of poverty by ruining their credit w/ collection accounts.

The plan is to divert the public money spent on free clinics and state hospitals that now care for these people into private insurance subsidies.

Well, most indigents have no credit history anyway. Most have never even paid a cent of their own for care and seem to think it is a right. Hillary's Health Plan, which I supported, would have made everybody, even the poorest pay something for the privilege of being subsidized, even if only a pittance. As their income rises, their subsidy shrinks and they pay more. It would encourage poor people to get into the real economy by investing them in it. I would tier the health coverage, giving only basic coverage to subsidized persons and standard coverage to middle-class full-payers. The wealthy can always afford lavish coverage. This would encourage the poor to pay more for more coverage and get off the dole completely.
