Just busting your balls for the incomplete thread title I thought maybe he was like a Madonna, we would know his name just by saying "Hayes"
Integrity still means something on the PGA Tour. Hopefully tournament sponsors will give him sponsors exemptions into any tournament he wants to enter. And by the way I thought it was Isaac Hayes and started whistling the theme song from Shaft.
I could have used one of those prototype balls he was using Saturday, after shooting a 102 on an easy course.
I had a thought on Hayes that was echoed by the blog story attached to the link. This guy's going to get more sponsorship exemptions than he can possibly honor thanks to his act of integrity. Plus, he's going to get a number of automatic exemptions as a 2-time Tour winner. Card or no card, he's going to play lots of PGA golf next year.
What does it say about our society that we have to reward someone for doing the right thing. Shouldnt that be commonplace. It is exactly the reason our country is in the shape we are in. Because doing the right thing and honor, integrity and charachter are in short supply. People like Pacman Jones are making millions while teachers, policeman, military , and others are being worked like dogs. CEO,s are getting millions in bonuses while their companies beg for bailout. We have to take our country back from the corrupt, thieves and criminals. Get back to the basics of family, Honor, Leadership, responsibility to each other. In my job i have been asked to do something unethical and i refused and it made my life very stressfull for a while still having to work in contact with that person. But i will never let anyone force me to do something i know is wrong . Lets make what this person did commonplace in our society and make this a better place for everyone.
While I agree with your perspective and the notion that integrity should be commonplace, I disagree with your belief that there should be no reward. As you have described todays society, fallen values becomes more acceptable to Mr. Spectator, and there should be reward, to a certain degree to promote the value of integrity. Otherwise, how do you get integrity back into society? Far too many times these days are we exposed to the sadistic intentions from the bad apples. Far too little are there good stories being reported placing emphasis back into proper esteem. Although I believe he deserves a nice warm cookie with a glass of milk, he also deserves the opportunity to accept the consequences for his integrity and allow the fault to be placed upon his infraction without argument.
