That's funny. It brings back some great memories of the 70's. Playing the LSU frisbee golf course - 1st tee - the north Indian mound.. ...to play it you had to know where the "holes" were. The first "hole" was the flagpole in the middle of the Pentagon dorms.. ...I once met Taj Mahal, the blues singer, playing the course with his sax player, Rudy Costa, and actually hung out with them a while... ...they were playing a show at the Kingfish - I got a freebie to the show... ...THAT guy had KGB, brothas!... There was always that great conundrum back then, though: Do I: A) Stay on the parade grounds smokin' one and play frisbee or B) Go to class ...sadly, usually B) won but every once and a while when the stress was too much it was A).
I have had squirrel before.....very tasty actually.... On a more closely related note....I have never heard of these tunnels and secret entrances to TS. I am very curious now....like sugarlsu said, there is a biological need to explore. I have walked by it a couple times on my way home after class and one of the gates are open and my roommate and I have often talked about goin "score a TD".....always scared to get caught and expelled or something.....I really wanna go find these tunnels and mess around in there for a little while now though....now that "everyone's doin it" i feel left out....
Speaking of walking across the bridge under construction, when it was being built I worked for the company painting it. We had to haul 5 gallon cans of red lead paint , each weighing about 150lbs., on a catwalk made of 3 2x12's laid side by side across 1x2''s out to a platforn in the middle of the bridge where a gasoline pump was set up to pump the paint to the painters. We used a 2 wheeler and it took 2 men to haul 2 cans out there, one pushing and one pulling with a rope. One day as I was swinging one of the cans onto the platform, the bail on the can broke. I started to fall backward and the guy running the pump grabbed me by the shirt and caught me but the can fell off into space and when it hit the river about 350 feet below, it exploded like a bomb. As I watched that I could only think of what would have happened to me if that guy had not caught me. I got down on my hands and knees and crawled back to the cement off of the superstructure and quit on the spot! I went back a couple of days later to get my check and that was that! GEAUX TIGERS!!!! LSU, 2003, BEST IN THE NATION AND THE SEC!!! :geaux: :helmet: :lsug: :helmet: :geaux:
LMFAO @ you crazy bastids ... being not without sin or shame and well beyond any statute of limitations I must also confess ... several times have I and friends snuck loose ladies onto the field for a night of wild fun ... I always brought a blanket and a cooler of beer ... we entered through my West Stadium dormitory bathroom with a huge hole in the wall ... hopped a short fence and we were in ... hell, we even sold tickets to the games and smuggled hundreds in over a two year period. One Tiger stadium record is held by Rod "H" ------------> he did 6 different women in one night ... a real animal ... he had them scheduled like appointments. Another stadium record was nine continuous hours of non-stop hardcore action ... your humble narrator, guilty ... a lifetime of memories and thanks to Ms. Andree "L" of New Orleans, I still dream about her to this day.
I use to play my high school games at alex box stadium. Quite an experience pitching from that mound.
During the summer of 1999 I was working orientation on campus. One night about midnight, myself and a few other people who were also working orientation walked to the stadium. One of the gates was opened so we went inside, after playing around for a while on the field we walked up to the top of the lower level by the press box. There was a door there that was unlocked, which allowed us to walk inside the press box. We walked all thru the press box and club seating area. We probably stayed about two hours, just goofing off. Another night about a year later I went again with some more friends. First we snuck into the Long Fieldhouse Pool and went swimming (another fun place to sneak into on campus). Then we walked to Tiger Stadium. We were able to get into the stadium but the door to the press box was locked this time. Not to be deterred, we jumped the fence surrounding the press elevator under the west upper deck and rode the elevator to the press box area. It was probably pretty stupid, but we didn’t get caught so I guess it turned out ok.
Me and one of my friends went in today to do some running. Ran a few 100s on the field, re-enacted some plays, then ran bleachers. Saw two people lookin around, but it was hard as hell to find somewhere to get in. There was a little gate on the east side that was open. Had all the paint still on the field, but the stands were dirty.
Great thread !! I read just a few posts and am intrigued because I did the same thing at Owen Field (Oklahoma's stadium) when I was a grad student there...but never Death Valley. Sounds like a challenge for my son, Macscookin, and me. Who can we call to bail us out if we get caught ?
I vividly remember at least one of the gates -- facing the parking lot, as I recall -- being open on a regular basis during the week when I was a student in the early 80s. But it never occurred to me that the stadium itself was open. I can't imagine that would still be the case today. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
