Why don't the high school coaches in Louisiana push more for the Louisiana talent to stay in Louisiana and play for Louisiana schools???:eek:ldskule:

I'm sure they do. But most will probably want to do what's best for the player. And sometimes going to the in-state school isn't the best thing for them. (i.e) depth at position etc.

I thought that a fair amount of them did. But I guess it all depends on the relationship between them and the staffs of the in state colleges.

What makes you think we don't? The vast majority of instate talent comes to LSU.

It's no different than any other state. If every kid played for their home state, we wouldn't get guys like Jamarcus Russell.:thumb:

Ok.....just asking to take our minds off of the day....I don't know....It just seems like alot of our talent, really good talent automatically looks outside of the state...that is all I was saying, just an opinion....

You're assuming they all graduated from LSU, or grew up going to LSU games. The head coache and one asst.at the school I work at graduated from Southern. The other asst. from McNeese.

Here's a twist for you......I'm helping a kid who is in DD's top 100 '08 prospects and has wanted to play at LSU since he was young. He is a black male raised by a single mother and has never attended an LSU game. He has received requests for highlight reels from several colleges. His heart is set on LSU but I'm having to prepare him for the "What if" cause I don't think he's quite on that upper tier of athletes we've been pulling in. :)

Because ultimately it's up to the actual recruit. The coaches don't want to come off as having an agenda.

The analogy (not too far from the truth by the way) is that of a parent hoping/wishing his/her child to be in the same profession/business as themselves but realizing in the end the child must pursue what's best for them even if it is against tradition.

We are not too many generations removed from from a time when it was a given that your chosen profession was that of your father and your father's father. This tradition is still very strong in families of the armed services, firefighters, and policeman.

Too early for this kinda warm/fuzzy, head hurting...
