Has there been any real talk in BR about coaching changes?

Just three years ago, Pro Football Weekly rated Cam Cameron as the #6 best offensive mind in pro football
    http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/01/11/ranking-the-offensive-coordinators

The NFL features the best of the best coaches, and they are constantly being replaced. Just last year, 16 new offensive coordinators were hired. There were about 80 changes at offensive coordinator over the last several years

Yet, despite the cutthroat competion, Cam Cameron has made it ten years in the League as an offensive coordinator, and his offenses were in the top 50% of the League in both total O and scoring O just about every year. That is a remarkable accomplishment. If he could consistently have an offense in the top 50% of the NFL for 10 years as OC, think what he could do in the NCAA and SEC

Total O/Scoring O rankings of Cam Cameron's offenses as an NFL OC

    2008–2012 Ravens
    2012 -- Top 50% (#16) total, Top 31% (#10) scoring
    2011 -- Top 47% (#15) total, Top 38% (#12) scoring
    2010 -- Top 69% (#22) total, Top 50% (#16) scoring
    2009 -- Top 41% (#13) total, Top 28% (#9) scoring
    2008 -- Top 56% (#18) total, Top 34% (#11) scoring

    2002–2006 Chargers, HC Schottenheimer
    2006 -- Top 13% (#4) total, #1 scoring
    2005 -- Top 31% (#10) total, Top 16% (#5) scoring
    2004 -- Top 31% (#10) total, Top 9% (#3) scoring
    2003 -- Top 44% (#14) total, Top 50% (#16) scoring
    2002 -- Top 50% (#16) total, Top 63% (#20) scoring

Remember, Crowton only made it two years as an NFL OC before they figured out how to shut his offense down

Now you show me a list of NFL OCs with offenses that always finished Top 50% or better...

Pat Sullivan. He was actually offered the job and accepted before he starting dropping new demands on the table. He also expected LSU to pay for his buyout at TCU and that was the final straw, so Joe pulled the offer. Gerry Dinardo happily paid his own buyout at Vanderbilt to take the LSU job.

The NFL is a qb driven league, most OC's are going to live and die by the play of their qb and his receivers. The best OC' s are the ones who figure out how to get the ball into the hands of their best playmakers, how to score TD's in the redzone and how to best incorporate the running game into the game plan. Cameron has done that pretty well for years.

And he had the patience of a saint while developing Flacco. I think he would be a great choice to come to an LSU and develope qb's if he were to stay at the college level for a while.

Please!! Go back and look at his stats and successes they speak for themselves he was fired because the team was on a loosing streak ...and they had to do something to get the teams attention, and it worked, look at the success of his offense at that point in the season and tell me why he was fired?? It's called a sacrificial lamb!!

No doubt it is a qb driven league , but first and foremost they had better have a good offensive line or nothing else matters....ask Dallas and Philly!!

No need to get excited... I'm just relaying what I heard and looking for opinions. I don't watch the NFL and don't know anything about Cameron.

They finished the regular season after Cam was let go, 1-2. We'll see how this one plays out.

from an article from the Baltimore Sun:

    Ravens QB Joe Flacco
    stunned by Cam Cameron's
    firing
    ...
“I was definitely stunned,” Flacco said
    ...
    Nearly every (Raven) player...admitted that
they were surprised that a team, which is
9-4 and has a two-game lead in the AFC
    North (fired their OC)...
“This is something that I think is a wake-up
    call for everybody,” Rice said.
    ...
With Cameron calling the plays since the
2009 season, the Ravens have done plenty
of winning. But the Ravens’ offensive
inconsistency this season, a lack of
significant progression from Flacco and a
propensity for Rice to get lost in the game
plan were among the factors (for Cam being fired)
    ...
    Flacco and Cameron
weren’t always on the same page. Just last
week, Flacco expressed frustration in an
interview with The Baltimore Sun that the
Ravens abandoned the no-huddle offense. However, he...said that a
perceived disconnect between the two was
    overblown by the media.
“Listen, Cam has done so much for my
career. He brought me here and trusted to
bring me here, first of all. He’s just helped
me every year I’ve been here...He’s been great for me,” said Flacco
    ...
Rice, who never publicly complained about
his number of carries even though he’s on
pace for his fewest touches since his second
season, also said that he did some self-
reflecting after hearing the Cameron news.
“I was looking back on two Pro Bowls in five
years. I was looking back on the amount of
receiving yards I have. I was looking back at
so many of the good things,” Rice said. “I
was able to start my career off with Cam
Cameron. Right now, we are at a point in our
season where we definitely have to focus a
lot more and execute. Cam called a great
game last week. Obviously, we didn’t win,
but he doesn’t put on the pads for us so we
    can’t be naïve about that.”
Several Ravens said that they don’t expect
to see many significant changes under
    Caldwell...

No doubt the oline is important, but I would rather have an average line with a great qb than vice-versa. And I think Dallas' line was good enough but Romo is just too hot & cold.
