Cracked vertebrae can be anything and it's difficult to determine if that exact trauma even caused the damage anyway from what I have read on the subject recently. By no means am I an expert, but it's a condition that millions of people have and they still lead normal, full lives. As you get older, untreated it can cause discomfort and pain.

The only reason anyone gives a **** about this particular case is because there were football players in the vicinity...

They probably could have arrested Jefferson the very next day...based on the testimony of Lowery and his girlfriend alone...but wanted to appear to exercise the proverbial "abundance of caution".

If Jefferson didn't do it, I bet he'll get off...but what if the crime lab evidence implicates him?

Me, I'm moving on. Good luck JJ but this could be the most magical season in LSU history and I'm not gonna let this ruin what we all have waited too long for.

I think BRPD knew as soon as they realized they would be investigating LSU's starting QB that the scrutiny would be unbelievable. As Unglesby said, this is an extraordinary amount of work/investigation to be done in regards to a bar fight. BRPD, in its effort to prove that "the fix" isn't in for a star LSU player, went overboard to prove that he would be treated like anyone else. In doing so, they treated him unfairly. JMO

What I don't understand is the apparent bias taken against JJ from the beginning. Either there was/is solid evidence against him ( not the d bag or girl as they seem less than creditable) that gives the police reason to treat him so or it is driven by some political imperative.
Maybe one of the unnamed victims has strong political ties that is pushing the process. Why are they being shielded and not Lowery or Long (is she a relative of Russell & Huey's family?)?
In the fog of stories & rumours
Again it has been noted that the police have ignored Lowery's past and apparent actions that evening even to the point of refusing evidence profered by Nathan Fisher in the interview. Equally they have ignored JJs past.
It seems the police have had an agenda to hang JJ et al from the beginning. The question is why. Is it evidence, political pressure from outside or old fashioned police incompetance & bull headness? The facts are unknown. There are too many conflicting stories in the media, on the boards etc to for us to know what truly went down. Right now it seems people take sides based on what they thought of JJ before the incident. Those that dislike him believe him as guilty as possible. Those that like him take heart in the stories that are exculpatory.
At this time we have to wait to see if the truth will come out. Whatever the truth JJ has to pay a price regardless of his guilt or innocence. It seems unfair. The police should have carried out their investigation and not said a word till they had a better idea of what happened. That they didn't leads me to believe there is serious political push to take JJ down. A sad comment on our justice system.

This question is for wrjay or any attorney...

Would you try to get charges brought against the starting QB for a major D1 school in your own town, if you didn't have a solid case?
