More hints: LSU football likely to see changes soon Posted by James Varney/The Times-Picayune December 02, 2008 5:48PM BATON ROUGE - With speculation swirling about the future coaching roster and starting lineup at LSU, head coach Les Miles declined Tuesday to address those issues specifically but said they will be resolved before the Tigers (7-5, 3-5) play in a bowl game. "I'm not going to address the other issues at this point," he said "I'm going to operate from the premise that there are going to be some adjustments made without question." The first of those, Miles said, is an attitude adjustment on a team reeling from a second half collapse at Arkansas. A series of ghastly mental errors and inconsistent intensity contributed to LSU squandering a 30-14 lead and losing 31-30 when the Razorbacks connected on a fourth down pass for a touchdown with 28 seconds remaining. The second was one of, "doing the right things," and Miles said both would be settled, "in the short term." Asked to define "short term," Miles replied, "before the bowl." And then, when asked whether adjustments meant players or coaches, Miles said, "overall view. Inclusive." As expected, Miles did say true freshman Jordan Jefferson, who played well in his starting debut at Arkansas, is now No. 1 on the depth chart and the presumed starter in the bowl game. http://blog.nola.com/lsusports/2008/12/lsu_football_likely_to_see_cha.html
LSU went through 12 games, and he's just now coming to this conclusion? Good thing he waited until now.
Golly gee, guess so. Miles sure is durn stupid for not realizing that attitude is important before tonight. What an idiot!
The press conference after the Arky loss was the first time all season where Miles didn't make any retarded statements like, "I would only change 2 defensive plays against UGA," or about the Ole Miss QB, "I thought he was running for his life." WTF I think Miles might be realizing he can't pee on our shoes and tell us it's raining. "Our football team should manage that game better and play smarter. The drive that was assisted by at least three penalties that allowed our opponent to get three points. It makes you sick. I told the team that’s the last time. It ain’t happening anymore." -Miles, finally showing emotion and finally being candid about the team after 12 games into the season.
Watch this video where Miles fights back tears when he talks about how much he loves LSU -- http://media.swagit.com/s/wbrz/The_Advocate_Sports/11192007-19.high.flash8.html Here is the article discussing it: http://blog.nola.com/tpsports/2007/11/miles_on_lsu_i_love_this_place.html There is an even better video of Miles at his Dec 1, 2007 press conference after we beat Tennessee in the SECCG, and the guy was tearing up again, talking about how much he loves Michigan and how he'd love to go there, but that he loves LSU so much and loves his players so much that he can't go. Unfortunately, the link to it doesn't work anymore, because it was very moving -- http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3137132&categoryId=2564308&n8pe6c=2 After watching press conferences like that, I honestly don't see how you can hate the guy so much.
I don't hate him at all. Actually, I like him. I don't know if his belly was full from last year's NC or not, but he appeared very stoic all of THIS season. THIS season, he waited until after the last game to show some of the fire he showed last season. 'Tis sad it took that long... that's all I'm saying. He had nothing more to prove after last year's NC. Now he does after a 7-5 regular season finish, and I think the fire will return.
I hope so. We seemed to be a lot better when he was passionate and showed some fire on the sidelines. Maybe this new shakeup will light him up again.
