successfully talk a ref out of a flag? That needs to be investigated. I have never ever seen it happen, until Nick proved it can be done tonight.
He was reminding the refs how much he put down on this game. Don't go and make a bad decision refs. Side note I have never seen so many holding, face mask, an PI no calls in my life. So glad the SEC office is in Alabama.
A pre snap penalty for illegal formation was called. Saban enters the field of play and conferences with the officials. Flag was picked up (it HAD been thrown). Official announces literally...no flag on the play, the formation was legal. There has been some talk of officials being biased for Alabama. I am not so sure about that. One thing I do think is...when we play Alabama, there is always some some series where we are hurt by a truly controversial call that goes their way. Even the unsportsmanlike penalty was questionable when Bama had just blatantly done exactly the same thing. If anything, should have been offsetting penalties. I don't think the officials lost us the game, but IF I were a conspiracy theorist, the picked up flag after an on field conference with Saban (and the other picked up flag for PI) sure gives me plenty of fodder.
Pickup up illegal formation & PI flags...PF on 7 yard line...refusal to review Quinn's catch (?) on 3rd down AND putting the ball in play while the discussion was going on...no PI call in End zone on 3rd & maybe 4th down during OT. Critical calls that change the game makes you wonder
And Jennings' facemask. I've never seen two games in a row ever, where a players' facemask was literally pulled off the helmet. Someone had posted a GIF of this on Twitter last night, and I can't find it right now. As he was being tackled, the Bama player yanked the facemask right off. How in the world the officials missed that I'll never know. Unbelievable. Sure seems to me that the fix was in big time.
