I not sure of the answer. Can anybody help here? I remember the guy from Florida was like the 7th string QB that kept getting moved up and became the starter due to an unbelievable run of bad luck with injuries to their QB's. I can't remember his name. Tall, skinny kid who had a good arm. I think he was # 13. They went on to have a very good year but didn't win the championship.
With the road schedule we have, plus the loss of so many starters on defense, and now the loss of Perrilloux, a repeat NC title is not something I would be terribly concerned about.
Looks like you nailed it. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=599750 The article also points out that, during the 2006 season, teams that had freshmen QBs included 9-4 Georgia (Matt Stafford), 10-3 Texas (Colt McCoy), 10-4 Arkansas (Mitch Mustain), Illinois (Juice Williams), and South Florida (Matt Grothe).
Let's see.... 2007 - First two loss team to win the BCS NC....2008 - third team to win NC with freshman QB. Of course guys, this assumes that Lee beats out Hatch.
Wasn't Matt Leinart a RS freshman when he "didn't" really win a NC in '03? OU had a pretty good freshman under center last year. The sky is not falling.
I'm looking forward to Lee starting 4 years. How many titles can he pile up? I don't expect a national championship at all this year. It's UGA's turn to whip OSU.
