Guitar Hero helped my kids so much. They love Classic Rock now. BTW, hey Nootch! Good to see you back around. How's things down your way? Y'all going to campus tomorrow?
I've never played with a Guitar Hero but from what I've seen of it it looks as hard to get good at it as it is to learn to play a real guitar.
No. They all could rock GH, but never had much interest in the real thing. My brother gave my youngest a pretty nice guitar and offered to give her lessons. I think she is more like Jerry Seinfeld and his bicycle - the guitar is just in her room for looks.
short kid never used video games. just trended that way naturally. by far has the longest hair of any other male at his school (about to his shoulder blades). and pretty much always listened to older rock. he somewhat recently discovered Nirvana, and now their unplugged album gets heavy air time from him. not sure about being on campus tomorrow. still a possibility.
I heard an interview with Skip Bertman a few weeks ago. He said if he was still AD he would have big name entertainment at halftimes. Not to sell tickets, those are already sold but to get more people who have tickets to actually use them instead of staying home and watching TV. I don't think it will work. First of all try booking some act that appeals to everybody. Impossible. Second, even if the act was somebody I like I'm not going to go just to see them for 30 minutes. I would only hope that the bands I want to see are the ones booked for the games that I want to attend anyway.
Pregame would be better. I've been going to LSU football games since the 70's and the percentage of people that pay attention to halftime no matter what the entertainment is extremely small. People are waiting in the 30 minute bathroom line or the 20 minute concession stand line. God help you if you need wait in both. I'm far more impressed and thrilled to see a 10 second fly over pregame than I am a major entertainer at halftime. JMHO.
I try to get near an exit right before halftime and get to the nearest bathroom before the line builds up. That leaves time to get a drink and a hotdog before the second half kickoff.
I hear you, but I usually have my kids so being organized isn't an option. Especially if I have my youngest daughter. I'm glad to see they're trying to upgrade the entertainment, at least it shows they care. However, halftime entertainment other than the LSU band really only targets the wine and cheese crowd that isn't there for the game to begin with. If they really want to know what the fans want, they should try asking the fans.
