I'm curious as to why this year, the powers-that-be deemed it necessary to have live bands to perform during halftime ala the Super Bowl at some home games. It will be an unnecessary extension of the time allowed at half time, normally 15-20 minutes, plus extending the time it takes to play the game. As it has been of late, students have started to leave right after half time. Are these bands being booked to encourage them to not only come to the game, but stick around?

LSU halftime shows to feature rock band OneRepublic, singer Aloe Blacc. from The Advocate
Rock band OneRepublic will provide halftime entertainment for the LSU-Florida game at Tiger Stadium this fall, LSU announced on Monday.

“The Super Bowl styled performances will be held in conjunction with the Golden Band from Tigerland,” the university’s news release states, while adding that “a second world-renowned act” will soon be announced as halftime entertainment for a different SEC home game.

“This is a unique opportunity that we are excited to bring to Tiger Stadium this fall,” said LSU athletic director Joe Alleva. “We continue to look for ways to enhance and compliment what is already the best atmosphere in college football and we think that these two performances will be something that our fans will enjoy.”

i thought he said rocknroll, so no, dont do it. now if they replace onerepublic with justin bieber.

the problem is are you going to please the student section or everyone else. everyone else is older and white and if you saw any of the vma's and are above 18 you may have wanted to kill yourself after.

and you cant please both unless toby keith is banging miley cyrus at midfield.

They feel a need to entertain people at halftime and most schools can't afford to take their bands on the road any more. I actually think we need a halftime break from the extremely loud PA system that screeches pop music the entire game anyway.
