I was in the band from 99 to 04.

    I'll never forget it.

Some of the halftime gigs were pretty boring, but I'll never, ever, forget the patriotic show we did with Lee Greenwood and the F16s. Crowd went nuts.

I have always wondered and wanted to know how they learn the choreography.

They've been doing that for years. Back when the Saint's were bad (like 30 years running) a lot of people would go to the games when Southern was the halftime entertainment just to see them. I remember in the mid 80's when they spelled the halftime score and the crowd went nuts. I guess they have to have every number scenario practically choreographed before the game. It is quite amazing.

TGBFTL has been playing the same boring shows for the last 10 or so years. Earth, Wind & Fire, A little Queen, and some Fleetwood Mac. That is all they have played in forever. They are stale.

A great during the game band. Boring as hell halftime shows.

LSU's band is the best BAND in the galaxy! If you haven't heard these guys up close, then you don't know what you talking about. They carry Tiger Pride and Dedication and are successful of that. They play old school music for halftime shows. LSU is one of the top collegiate marching bands in the nation right beside, Texas AM, Southern Cal, and many others. I absolutely don't know why people go get concessions when the "home band" plays halftime. That is just ignorant and disloyal. Why would people do that to their favorite school. This band is unanimously number ONE!

It makes me proud that my 6th grader has chosen to play the trombone--which is unusual for a girl, but I'm sure that she'd also be able to kick an Auburn kicker's butt.

Since I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a band parent (at least through high school--though, I'd love for her to make a college band), I'm gaining an appreciation for the work that goes into being in band. Already, the cost and time we're putting in is considerable, with the cost of the instrument and weekly private lessons/practice.

Does her free band teacher at school suck so bad that you have to get her private lessons? Sounds like you're helicoptering...

Stacey, if you want to inspire her, have her check out Bones Apart on youtube.

    Female trombone quartet.
