YES! Our D was trying to contain 'Bama--tough to do on any given Saturday--especially so when they were on the field for almost the entire game!!!!! I was PROUD of our D when, even late in the game when they were clearly gassed, they were blitzing, Mathieu in the nickel--the whole 9 yards of D, but, fk, they could not get a breather from the O because JJ was still the favored son!
I wouldn't say you shut Trent down… He had 89 rushing yards and 80 passing yards on Nov 5th. Correct me if I'm wrong, (couldn't find the averages anywhere so I calculated them myself) but Trent averaged about 120 rushing yards a game and 20 passing yards this year. I would have liked to have found the averages from the year up to November 5th but I couldn't. But that's hardly "shutting him down". Not trying to flame, just stating the facts. ^^ LSU's defense is very good. (They're 2nd so of course they are)
Well, it's been a few days for one and all, on both sides of the issue to relax and decompress somewhat. However the one remaining issue for me causing consternation and mental clutter was the insidious attempt to color the ESPN NC broadcast in purple. I first noticed this with Brent and Kirk in the booth, with their purple ties screaming in stereo, which immediately gave way to these conspiratorial thoughts. Either they were giving early hints about who they felt was soon to enjoy the coronation that evening or they were hinting of split championships among the AP populous, just in case of a crimson surge. Still trying to see this as more of a shout out to the "color purple" and less a blatant bias, then here comes the incomparable, Erin "I want Les Miles baby" Andrews, with her purple attire, as she begins to interview the mad hatter before the game. And then watching throughout the contest as she was visibly, emotionally distraught and in growing anguish on the sidelines, as she witnessed every LSU 3 and out. Even Tom Rinaldi, who one might think as a Bama sideline reporter, could hide any hint of biased support, was strapped to the same ridiculous purple tie, during his interviews with the Sabanator. You figure there had to be a meeting, right? So how did all that color coordination go down? "Gee guys, lets go with the all purple stuff tonite, we wouldn't want the football world to think we were guilty of any emotional predisposition toward the combatants." Don't get me wrong, It was a great party and I had a good time, just hard to grasp why it was necessary for the entire ESPN crew to come dressed as LSU football fans.
Take away the td run when LSU's d had been on the field the entire game and yes Trent Richardson was shut down. I'm not talking about the 11/5 game.
My mistake, then. I thought you were talking about the first meeting. I guess you could say that about 1/9… Your defense was definitely awake, even more so than the first meeting IMO.
Not taking anything away from the kid, best rb in the country and to be fair it didn't really seem like he was part of the gameplan.
