I am still sick but steadily getting better. A few thoughts after reading many of the posts lead me down this path. We all love LSU football and we hurt and/or get p.o.'d when the lose. I am not so sure we were not lucky to win at Alabama in November. If you think we have a great defense and we certainly do, I think Alabama had a better one. I surely believe they were better prepared Monday night. I also think we were immature by resting on past laurels and were not hungry as was Alabama after we beat them in Nov. We had no desire. Possibly, had we lost in Nov. and got the rematch, the shoe may have been on the other foot. If y'all are like me, I am not so much mad at losing to a better team, I am mad that we did not throw the kitchen sink (trying Lee or Mett) when Jefferson failed. I am mad because we apparently did not put our best foot forward. I am mad because we were complacent, seemingly. We did not do everything possible to at least attempt to win. I don't think the answer at this point is firing Miles. I do think with his position, with the $ he is paid, as a public employee of the Great State of Louisiana, he owes us an explanation or apology or a pledge that he will right what is wrong. Looking back, overall, I think now Alabama had the better team simply because you have to look at the entire body of work. We got beat on the offensive line. We got beat with our scheme. To sum it up, we got beat the day after the first game we played Alabama in November because that is when Saban's pride kicked in and he swore to himself he would be ready last Monday night. Now, the fallout has begun, or it appears that way. Some kids are talking about leaving either for the NFL or transferring, so I read. If this is the case, perhaps some of them were the problem to begin with. If you can't overcome adversity and decide to jump ship, maybe a purging is what we need. Let us hope and pray Miles hires whoever he needs to help right this ship.
I don't believe Alabama has a better defense. I think it looked that way because the Alabama defense was going against the worst quarterback in college football and an offensive gameplan that had no "insurance policy" when it didn't work, or couldn't work due to an inept quarterback.
He doesn't OWE us anything. I promise you that HE is the sickest person of all. Why are humans so into public humiliation? How does that EVER help?
Again, LSU went up against a legit offense and shut down a Heisman trophy finalist. Alabama went up against a pee wee league offense.
Stacey, I disagree. He is a public figure, a public employee, he is paid millions by the people of this state. You owe your employer an explanation when you fail or when questioned. What is the difference? He is an employee of the state, the people pay his salary.
Well, they pay part of his salary--much of it is from endorsements. I'm a public school teacher and grow weary of hearing people talk about paying my salary. I own a house in the city where I teach. I also pay my salary to myself.
Stacey, no disprespect. I have long been a fan of, respector of, and supporter of teachers and public employees. I agree, having been a public employee for nearly 50 years and having taught at he college level. We all, "pay ourselves" to some respect. But the Head Football Coach is more than a teacher though he is in fact a teacher. His salary comes from both the college and TAF I'd guess. It's all public money, or money from the people. Any teacher or public employee works for the public to whom they must answer. When a school hires a new band director or chemistry teacher I've never heard of a public meeting to do so other than maybe a school board. But when a football coach is about to be hired, like E. F. Hutton, everyone listens.
and a sieve of an O line and no game plan by the coaches. No defense of JJ he was poor but it wasn't all on him he had help IT WAS A TEAM EFFORT
