I hate it when those in the college coaching profession name an action or a syndrome after Les Miles. What happened in New Orleans will be called a Les Miles FOREVER!!!!!
Don't want him gone at all. But I have not gotten past the point of feeling like we as fans deserve an explanation for what happened out there. I know we won't get one. I know I'll get over it and pray that Coach has learned a lesson as well.
Amazing how one game can change the way some look at CLM. On Sunday he was such a great and good man and an amazing coach who loved and was loved by his team. One who know how to out smart any opponent. Now he is back to stupid Les who stabbed a player in the back without regard to the team and winning a game. Way to over react. This was a debacle no doubt. Les gets an F for Monday night. However he is still 3-3 vs Nick, still has the best record in the BCS since he took over, still has a great team potential for the next several years and has shown a talent for correcting things as needed (well maybe not QB LOL). He is still my coach I still take him over ANY other coach including Nicky, Urban, Chip or any you can name. He is just as good a man and coach as he was Sunday night. :miles::geaux:
I think many were waiting for that "Ole Miss" moment ALL SEASON, when we did not get it we all breathed a collective "whew", we made it only to have him stomp the breath out of us for 3 hours in New Orleans!!!
No. Les did a phenomenal job with the team this year. Through all of the adversity we faced (not going to rehash it here), and leads us to 13-0 regular season/SEC Champ and the NC game. Am I pissed about the outcome of the NC game, sure I am, and I'm not happy about the game plan, etc. But to call for his head is just plain crazy. :geauxtige
Miles is fantastic for recruiting. Miles has never impressed me as a game planner. LSU is 13-0 this year on player talent and a John Chavis defense. Chavis brings to life the cliche of "the best offense is a great defense". We kept other teams defenses on the field so much that they had no choice but to become gassed. .. then we pulled away. We also had great FP all season long, except against Bama, who also has a great defense. And player talent ... our stable of running backs can run and run and run. ... and .. earlier in the season .. we had the pass. Then you throw in the defensive talent. Miles will have to get over the thought that we can all go back to the 1950's and run the ball 70% of the time and beat modern day defenses ... especially good modern day defenses. The run game and pass game have to work in concert to keep the defense guessing. When the guessing goes away ... so does the productivity. It's going to be real sad next year when Miles uses the same dogged approach to offense as he did this year. Yeah .. it worked 13-14 times .... but it didn't on the two most important games. [.. and no .. it didn't work against Bama the first time ..that was pure FP and luck]. He's got a powerful weapon waiting in the wings ... Mett has the potential to be great ... but only if Coach Les Miles lets him be great.
No I do not want Les Miles out, but I want Les Miles recognizing his limits, especially on the offensive side of the ball and spend time reflecting on the reasons behind Monday's humiliating defeat so that this DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. We have a shot at a NC next year, so I hope that the game with Bama, lights a fire inside CLM and his team, a fire that will burn deeply and constantly until the game is vindicated.
Could be they were more prepared to win than we were. Several things I noticed during the game as they were happening . . . 1. Both MLB Hightower and OLB Upshaw were definitely faster on their pursuits. Could Saban have gotten each to drop 10-15 pounds during the long down time between games? 2. How many times did a Bama WR go down the right side, cut left across the center of the field, only to have the TE slide down the right side catching the ball as he was pursued by a slower LSU LB? Too often I do believe. 3. Normally I enjoy watching the initial action of the LSU line. Maybe it's a bit of "fan-game fatigue" but I cannot recall a single pancake from any of our linemen. And Faulk had a game on par with JJ's peakaboo performance. Oh well, on to 2012. I just hate to start the year 0-1. :geaux:
