There seem to be a large number of Gumps trying to convince themselves that our offense is just like Arky's in an attempt to make themselves feel better. I believe this is the human mind's way of dealing with fear. They are going to have to face some facts on Nov 5th though: LSU's offense is MUCH BETTER THAN ARKY's!

This. It's apples and oranges. Sure, the piggies have some high-flying weapons in their arsenal, but that's a one-trick pony and everyone knows it. Plus, their OL isn't even in our league.

Welcome to the board ... and great points.

I've looked at your first point extensively. You've only played one team with the potential to put up points, that being AR. .. and AR is so one dimensional, that I'm suprised they are having the success they are having. GRANTED ... and I'll give Bama credit, ya'lls D-Front was a huge contributor to AR's failure to rack up points, because Bama's D didn't allow the downfield threat to develop before Wilson was planted in the ground.

As for comparing LSU's O to AR's O .. you simply can't do it. LSU has so many more dimensions. LSU plays the same kind of football Bama does. In fact .. they just mentioned in on ESPN ... LSU actually has run the ball more times than Bama has .. something like 356 vs 314 times. We put up 237 yards rushing in TN on the same TN defense that held Bama to 143 yrds ... in Tuscalosa. We have the run .. AR does not.

Add to it, JLee is the most efficient Passer in the SEC. But I'm not going to take anyting away from McCarron. I've really enjoyed watching him play, and he is improving every game. In fact, he won that TN game for you guys. The only worry I have for you guys is that he may throw a pick or two against this pick happy LSU secondary. You can be assurred, he won't have the time he had against TN. ..... but I digress .... back to comparing LSU and AR.

Imagine combining the Run Attack of Bama with the Pass assault of AR. That is what you have in the LSU Offense. IF their is any one advantage of LSU over Bama, it will be our WR core. LSU's WRs and down field threats are as dangerous as ARs, .. and coupled with a ground and pound run game that is a carbon copy of Bama's [although not quite as dangerous due to Ware vs Richardson], defenses cannot focus on our WRs. This combo is what allows LSU to pound out 6-9 min TD drives, but at the same time, the quick strike down field threat is always present.

No doubt .. I think the Bama defense is up to the challenge .. they will be tough as nails, and they will be unlike any defense LSU has faced this year.

As for the score ..don't confuse our wishes with what we really think. Sure .. we wish for LSU to blow Bama away .. but if you browse around this site, you'll find scores like 20-17, 14-10. ... you'll even find some guys who think we will lose.

Based on my playing around with numbers ... considering the explosiveness of these two teams and their abilities to score, along with some qualitative analysis ... I think we are looking at a close game in the 20s.

But to be sure .. it's going to be one fun, good ol fashioned football game!!

It is balanced and effective, scores 40 points a game against top opposition, has four good running backs, five good receivers, the best pass efficiency in the SEC, and an experienced distinguished, deep offensive line, two of whom have been the SEC lineman of the week in the last two weeks and an offensive coordinator who knows his business.

It is a serious mistake to liken this LSU team to Arkansas.

If this is a low-scoring game, Bama will win with the home-field advantage. If this game goes wide open . . . LSU wins by three scores.

If bama beats us up on the line we will lose. If our o line can hold off the bama rush and can get some push on running plays, our fullbacks can help neutralize bama's NFL quality linebackers. If lee has time to throw the ball, we will win. Our passing game will open up the running attack. If bama can shut down our passing game with only rushing their down lineman, we are in for a long night. It will all come down to each teams offensive linemen. The team that wins the battle of the big men will win the game.

We really need the multi-quote feature back, but I've given up on the bulletin board software ever being upgraded again.

Where we win ... is if the battle in the trenches is "tied". LSU simply has more offensive weapons at our disposal than does Bama. Trent won't win this one by himself. Simple as that.

I know we have a more talented, much deeper team than bama. I just hope the home cooking doesn't have an outcome on the game.
