Unless Kiel comes in in the Spring and just blows the doors off the place, I think he will take a redshirt. First of all, there is no hurry in sendng him to the field, since LSU has QB's "with experience in the system" ahead of him. Secondly, based on Miles' history, he prefers to play established players at the QB position vs throwing in a young guy. He likes to let the young guys "learn the system." Take this year for example. I am a believer that Mettenberger has oodles and oodles of more talent than Jl and JJ, yet he was not allowed to see the field, due to needing more time to "learn the system." As long as Mettenberger has a solid Spring and is a clear #1 and Rivers/Randall show they are a true #2, I expect Kiel to redshirt. However, I am not a believer that our offensive system is so intricate that it can not be learned by a Freshman. If Kiel is really that good and can prove to be a solid #2 or better than Mett and make a case for #1, more power to him. Kiel living up to the hype can only help the Tigers next season.
I agree and was just repeating another poster, but we can always hope. Actually, a Matt Flynn type would be great, but I'd love to have someone a step or two higher up the ladder than Flynn. :tigereye::LSU231:
I am a believer that Miles would love to have just one QB and have that QB be the full time go to guy. I also know that in any conference and on any football team you have to have a starter and 2 backups ready to go at any time. I don't think we will see a 3-4 QB rotatio, but my belief is that we will be good enough next season that our backups will receive plenty of oppotunities to play after we have built up a sizeable lead.
I don't agree with that. Lee has a higher rating, completion percentage, and TD:INT ratio, but he couldn't move the offense as well as Flynn did. That's why Flynn put up so much more yardage. Matt Flynn is 5 times the QB Jarrett Lee is. He wouldn't be getting talked about for future starting jobs in the NFL otherwise. He was asked to do more because he was capable of doing more. And for the record, I'm a huge Jarrett Lee fan. For everything he's been through, to stick around and contribute like he did this year, I am very proud and grateful.
I hope you are right. I hear that Collins' girlfriend is going to Bama. My nephew goes to Dutchtown. He thinks Landon is leaning to Bama because of the girl.
