This is amazing. LSU is becoming a brand that can recruit a large portion of the nation. There was a time when we could only recruit the LA, MS, AL Gulf Coast. Then came Texas (Joe Addai*, Shepard, etc.) and Florida (Patrick Peterson and his brother, Dwayne Bowe, etc.). Now we're getting players from the rust belt like Spencer Ware and Kiel! Next stop, California. *Edited -- I originally put Perriloux in as a TX guy, don't know what I was thinking.
Lorenzo Phillips should be factored in the rankings projections. Probably not #1 but top 3 if land Hill, Phillips, and Collins. I believe would should also subtract Bourque. Then we may have a wildcard and we want that to be Mario Edwards and pushing hard right now. Going to be a tough one though.
I think we'd have to oversign and get more 4 star recruits to push out the 3 stars from counting. If you count Kiel and Collins, that would give us: 2 - five star 12 - four star 6 - three star in the top 20 of our recruiting class (which is how rivals uses to get the point total that's also 23 total recruits (with Collins being counted). LSU could sign anywhere from 25 to 27 (most likely 25 or 26). But if LSU would sign 27 and those last 4 commitments are all four star recruits, then LSU has an excellent chance at finishing #1. Hill (RB) and Phillips (LB) seem to be great shots for LSU and almost sure bets. That's two. So the last 1 or 2 will decide if we finish 3rd, 2nd or 1st.
Remember, we can only sign 25 on NSD with the new rules. Still not sure if we can count anyone back. You have play under the 85 for the entire season for that to happen and the NCAA made us play at 83. So just assuming those spots are not available. However, I need to check and see if we played under 83 this year. The Fordham transfer might come into play here. We tried to petition the NCAA to get him in because we only enrolled 24 of the 25 last year. So maybe we can count back one early enrollee. Anyone else over the 25 would have to greyshirt and sign next class.
If Mett who had no redshirt and 1 whole season of playing college ball couldn't break in with the two QBs ahead of him what makes you think Miles is going to burn a red shirt on Gunner when we actually have legitimate QB options?
But wouldn't the greyshirt ranking not count toward our final ranking? Only the players counted back would? I might be confusing the final rankings vs the true final enrolled rankings but I assume if someone doesn't sign the dotted line on NSD then our rankings would be adjusted that day.
I bet he is a better kicker than what they have and better QB as well! The game can't get here fast enough!
No they are adjusted on the enrolled rankings. We would get credit if we sign 33 players on NSD. Alabama does this all the time and always finish higher than they actually end up.
